I've seen them twice before, once in Cleveland, and once in Atlanta.
boy, are you guys in for a treat come saturday night
all I can say about their shows is that they are ultra dedicated to thier fans..
they played this day long festival in New York i think it was.. they were the headliners and were the last act to go on.. apparently, torrential downpours all day dropped attendance from a speculated 50,000 to a meager 10,000 and most of those were die-hard Radioheads that stood out there soaked all day long..
Thom came out, expressed his immense gratitude to thier fans for sticking it out all day in the rain to see them, and then proceeded to play a 3 hour show, an hour longer than they were scheduled to go on for, just for the fans.
now, if that ain't dedication and respect for your fans, I don't know what is
if you're talking about the utter failure that was field day fest, i was there. it was supposed to be a two-day festival on long island, but the promoters apparently didn't get permission to use the land before they sold tickets. so it turned into a last minute one-day thing at the meadowlands.
it was rainy all day. beck was supposed to come out two bands before radiohead. after making us wait for at least an hour, someone came out and said he slipped or something and wouldn't be performing. somehow radiohead made it all better.
my favorite band. i can't wait to see them again. and with some new material.

I have always said there were two bands I wanted to see...Radiohead & Beck. I saw Beck 2 years ago w/ The Black Keys(friggin' awesome) and now I get to see Radiohead & Beck in the same weekend! I am on this board WAY too much and if it doesn't get here soon I am going to implode..

I wasn't real into Radiohead before but with the headlining add I figured why not give them another go. I am very glad I did because I heard something I liked the second time around. It's good to give things a chance...even if they dont seem like your thing....I hope more jam based music fans take the open minded route. We have all heard the complaints....

Im not a fan of Radiohead but at the same time i havent been exposed to any of their live action.... My old roomate used to talk them up all the time, he's seen them a handfull of times and swore up and down that their shows were incredible... Its not that i never beleived him but i've only heard their studio work and havent been given enough exposure to Radiohead to really understand... Now i have a chance to see them live, whereas i would probably never go out of my way to otherwise and i have a feeling im going to get my ass handed to me and might even have to mop my face up out of the mud after their set...
We'll see... This could be the one thing that turns me on to them... People talking up a band can only do so much.... Either way im SURE i wont walk away dissapointed by any means...

When Bonnaroo was announced I only had one Radiohead cd. I always liked em but didnt listen to them as much as some other stuff. I now own every cd. Now, Radiohead is about all you'll hear blasting out of my house when you pull up. Theres gonna be 60-70,000 people changed after Saturday, June 17th. These guys are so amazing that their newer stuff hardly even sounds like the old stuff yet its all awsome. Im too giddy to talk anymore, gotta go get lifted and think about it some more and dance around to some 2+2=5 and some Sit Down Stand Up. GOOD LORD PEOPLE BONNAROO IS SO DAMN CLOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CLOSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
funny thing is, all of my jam-based friends are into Radiohead, which sort of baffles me as to why they are so hated by so many on this messageboard..
I love jammy music, but I also need an emotional outlet too, and Radiohead provides.
i don't really understand the hate either. just about every album is vastly different than the last. even if you didn't like all of their stuff, you'd think something would click. but maybe that's what people don't like.

I am gonna give them a fair shot. I am actually really looking forward to seeing them for the first time. Most everyone one seems to have really good things to say. As far as the hatin goes I guess I haven't heard it ,but I havent been reading the radiohead posts religiously.I love jam bands but first and foremost I love music. sometimes we all can be al ittle sensitve when someone says something we dont agree with that we hold close to our hearts. I have heard a couple negative statements about bands that gave me some of the best experieces of my life. I try to take it with a grain of salt. no one can take away our perception. I cant wait to see radiohead and it sounds like if they are half as good as many of you say they are Im in for a treat. Peace fellow roosters!

most of u already know this, but RH is my favorite band (by far)... I've seen them 10 times, and by the end of June, I will have seen them 15 times. I can go on and on about how amazing they are live, but I'm hardly an objective critic. I have roommates that are hardcore Phish fans, and they wax poetic about their shows, and they play me the dvds, and they're good.... it looks like fun.... but Phish just doesn't grab me emotionally the way radiohead does.....
I just wish they had the big LED wall behind them for this tour. The "visuals" are definitely scaled back now compared to '03/'04... maybe they'll do something special for roo...
for all of you seeing them for the first time, I envy you. My first time was a life-changing experience. Get there early, get close to the stage, get into it!

I think Bonnaroo's light's will be more than sufficient. I like the rig they have right now for the Euro tour. A bunch of wierd shaped screens. I hope they bring it with em for our side of the tour.
I've seen Radiohead 3 times thus far, twice in Houston (kid-a and hail to the thief tours) and in st. louis (hail to the thief tour) and cannot wait to see them again. They are an absolutely amazing live act with johnny and his lovely analog modular synth (which incidentally has no patch memory, so watch for him building the sounds between songs, pretty fun for the geek in me). I don't take such comments lightly, but I really believe them to be one of the best if not the best rock bands for a large performance environment currently in existence.
I know Bonnaroo's history as a jam band festival has some people scratching their heads about this headliner. I will say to them, get yourself in the right state of mind (or out of your mind altogether if preferred), go to the show, and see if those feelings hold.

Hmm, this is panning out as expected, with about half of us being R-head newbies who are super excited to see them, another third or so steadfast hardcores, a sizable chunk willing to try something new, and a sprinkling of haters.....Personally i dont understand how somebody could not find something agreeable in their vast catalog, but if youd rather see Widespread for the twentieth time over R-head thats your buisness. ???
p.s Where are all the wooks? I know your lurking.....
I just had a long chat with my friend in London who was at both shows. She said they were brilliant, and she even got a setlist on the first night! check it out:
Any chance your friend would have some longer videos that youtube wouldn't host? If so, I'd be willing to host them for a day or two so everyone can get them quickly. PM me if interested. I'd love to see more

Saw them in West Palm a couple years ago and as stated many times they were pretty amazing. We had good tickets off W.A.S.T.E. I'd bought Ticketbastard's trash and ended up quite a ways back but would have still been happy to see them from there. We ended up in the 2nd row a little too far stage right to be perfect but still pretty damn cool. The only thing we were missing was a good look at the drummer.
They played a pretty long set and tore it up good. Highlight of the night was Thom dedicating "We Suck Young Blood" to Clear Channel.

thom did the clear channel dedication in st. louis on the hail to the thief tour as well. it went something like "it's great to finally come to st. louis, it's too bad it had to be sponsored by clear channel though. this one's for them..." he also commented about the clear channel sea of VIP in the front and dedicated "there there" to the lawn seats.
