the best way i found to get into access was exit112. As time gets closer we should all exchange numbers to try and camp near to each other. I will be meeting up with Troo and companyn in M'boro.
Looks like they will be actually calling in and confirming car placards at the entrance gate. Which is not a problem for me but I wonder about it slowing the line way down. Look at the guide and tell me if that is what you are reading and how/if you think they will do that.

I can't see them making calls - but I can see them matching the placard up to a driver's license this year - which is not an issue for me - mine has my name on it written by the clerk that gave it to me.
We are renting a car, Indiana doesnt have anything on it to match plates or people. I think that was to scare people from taking grandma's placard to get a good site.
It'll be me and about 5 other people. We've got 4 in our vehicle and a companion vehicle. Bonnaroo is my honeymoon this year (3rd year) so having to be in Access was not only nice for the medical reasons but also for the closeness. It's like we'll be spoiled (we're used to Austin Powers camps).
Can anyone who's been camped there before tell me a bit about it?

Just let your companion vehicle in behind you and tell them to tell the people directing traffic to let them in the same lane as you. It can be chaotic and you may have to be assertive. When they get there someone may come by looking at the bonnaroo tags on the cars and the plates to make sure you belong in that are. Other then that it is pretty much the same. It is close and it more laid back.
Are people who park there actually disabled or are there a lot of fakers? I'm just being curious as I surf around the site and read some threads I missed before...

I would venture to say that the majority of them are actually disabled
Me and my group camped there last year, 1 of our crew had diabetes and had 2 handicapped parking passes, so we parked 3 cars there, a total of 8 of us. She had the tag in her car and the other car was her companion, and I had the other tag. So technically I am not handicapped and still used it. She is not going this year and has offered the passes to our group, I don't know if I really want to do it since they aren't ours and it's bad karma and all, but man it is so nice to be close. One person coming with us has Crohns disease, would that count? I feel bad for even asking that

as my friend last year (who would not camp with us in access - and is why we ended up in BFE with him last year) said......
That is bad ju-ju - if you do not NEED to be camping in access - then you should not be there.
I would be worried about taking the space away from someone who truly needs it - like Clato and his wife
or the guy who just had ankle surgery and will be in a wheelchair
or even me for that matter - I ended up with a stress fracture in my foot last year because of being in BFE.

Well your friend is an idiot. I doubt we'll be using them this year since we don't need it and that person is not attending. But if she was, I would definitely be there.
I think it is set for different levels of disability. There are people with mobility issues that cannot walk to bfe. Then there are people in wheel chair that need to get in a different exit because they have trouble in the main and need raised seateing to see. So if you have a problem with your ankle it would be okay if your docter agrees. If your a little sore but no medical problem no you shouldnt be there. The companion is a good idea. Laura and the staff are allowing the people to have friends. I go places with my wife and sometimes she is told to set somewhere seperate from me, our daughters or people she came with. The companion is to make sure there is no isolationest.
what I was trying to say is.....if you don't have a legal handicap placard for yourself - then it is just wrong to borrow someone's just for the sake of camping closer.
Yup - my friend last year was an idiot and I was an idiot for agreeing to camp out in BFE with him - this year is different - it is just me and Boz - none of our friend's from previous Bonnaroo's will be there - we have a good friend from Virginia that will be meeting us there and he will camp with us as our companion - make new friends - but keep the old - it's great that he can camp with us!

As I posted in a similar thread last year, we always buy my uncle's ticket for him because he is disabled and has a 27-foot camper. <--Poor man's VIP?
I think this is different tho - I mean - your uncle goes with you, right? so there is a reason for being in access - but if you just borrowed his placard and his RV and left him at home - that would be wrong

Nope. I could never do that. It was just a suggestion to anyone who had to be close and didn't want to cheat to be there.
It was great being in access last year because my friend had had ankle surgery and I had hurt mine just a few weeks before and the people in the first aid were great and wrapped my ankle any time I need redone. This Feburary I had a surgery on it with screws and plates and such and am finally walking in a boot but havnt got a handicap placard cause I dont have a car, can I just get a note from my doctor or do I need to get the placard, and if so is there enough time left or can I just show them my incisions with 17 staples one side and 9 on other

I'm pretty sure you will need a placard, but it should be no problem getting one from your doctor. I'm sure he or she will be happy to oblige when you explain how much walking you'll be doing.
I could not imagine using someone else's placard just to get close. Hell, I feel bad for the fact my Dr. had me contact Bonnaroo to get in Access because otherwise he said I shouldn't be going. I would of rather stayed home than taken the space, but it is our Honeymoon and my BF convinced me it would be alright.
I'm worried though - because I don't look handicapped (I'm a higher risk pregnancy) and I'm afraid people will think I scammed to get in. Everyone just thought I shouldn't be walking so much and be able to rest when I need to.

I totally agree - if you are a higher risk pregnancy - you need to be closer and not walk and be able to go back to camp and rest - honestly - I think all pregnant females should be allowed in access if they choose to do so - it is rough being pregnant for 9 months and the heat and humidity at Bonnaroo are gonna make it just that much worse,.
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo

Ok I really need some advice on the access camping. Three weeks ago I fractured my ankle and tore all 3 ligaments pretty bad. They loaded me up with painkillers, gave me a big boot cast thing to wear, and told me to stay on crutches. I have been off the crutches for a few days now and just limping around on the boot. I do not have a handicapped placard but my doctor said if I needed one that I could get one. Should I use the access camping this year and bring in my friends that I am going with who are not disabled as my companion car? I mean I am pretty sure that I am going to need the access parking for the walking but is it wrong to be bring my friends in as well?
^^^YES!!!! I so wish the past two years I had just gona ahead and used my placard - If you are in a boot - or even just out of a boot in a brace or anything similar - you need to be in access - less walking is much better for your ankle!

I doubt this is the place to ask but if i were to go apply for one at my doc's office this week would I get it before Bonnaroo. I'm really not sure how it all works.
^^^you actually get a form from your doc that says you need it - then you take that form to where ever you get your license plates from - the will be the ones that issue the temporary placard
