Everyone, last reminder, beware of the heat and humidity, drink plenty of fluids...whether you are thirsty or not. Pace yourself, rest when you need to. Don't burn yourself out too quick, it's a long event. Be safe, be courteous, help your neighbor and if thunderstorms appear.....be aware of your surroundings, move away from tall structures and trees...better to get wet, than fried.. Larry
Yea, it seems like it happens every year. Last year we got parked at about 2 am. There were some younger guys next to us that were first time Roo'ers. They stayed up all night partying, expecting to get up by noon the next day and catch all the music. They got up all right but the heat destroyed them!! They were back by 2:00 in the afternoon and slept the day away. Missed some incredible music. I guess the lesson is, if your not familiar with a Tennessee summer you really need to respect the humidity and the heat combo.......PACE YOURSELF!
As for the Tennessee heat though, yeah, it's a killer. I've been through a number of 100 degree days in Chicago and some rough and rugged weather before. Still, there's nothing quite as overbearing at first kiss as that TN heat. It crippled me Thursday morning last year. A combination of the drive, sleep deprivation, and the overwhelming realization that this heat is brutal left me floored.
