Haha...I have a box of ties in my basement that's been waiting to be turned into a skirt for...god, I don't know, probably 6 years or so. WHO KNOWS if I'll ever get around to doing it. I don't think a skirt made of ties would exactly fit my style as well as it would have when I was 16 though...

So, girls.....I bought my first roo-item for next year today! Sort of. This is the first thing I've bought since 'roo with next year's roo in mind, but it's something that I also wanted for other purposes and will definitely get used apart from roo. So meet what will hopefully be my new roo-purse!
It's one of those slouchy cross-body things and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Here's a closeup so you can see the pattern on the one part:
The purse I had last year for Bonnaroo just DID NOT WORK. It was wayyy too small. I wanted something with a zipper and something that would be somewhat waterproof to protect my stuff from rain and mud and the like, and since this new one is just fabric it won't really do that, but I basically kept everything important in ziplocs anyway so it's no biggie. And this one has a flap which a lot of similar styles don't have, so at least it has SOME mild protection against rain. And pickpockets, I guess, although the flap doesn't velcro or anything so it won't be too much use in that case. I guess I could add some velcro or something. It also has too pockets inside which should be handy, again they don't zip or anything but at least they can keep things organized. And I love the color/pattern....the brown is nice and neutral and will go with pretty much anything, but the pattern on the sides/strap still adds a little color. And I really really needed a somewhat bigger purse just for everyday things when I want to bring more stuff, now I can easily bring a book or a snack or even a crochet project with me. And it was only $10! I am completely powerless to resist Target's purses. (They had a few other colors/patterns if anyone is interested).
^^^ I like! I might have to go get one; I have a large version of that I bought on Etsy but since it's so big I tend to stuff it full and it pulls on my shoulder and gets in the way when I'm carrying my hoop. Target, you say? Hmm....
B) Target has sundresses on sale for only $10.68 right now. No wonder since it's October. But I was home in Augusta GA last weekend, and they had in the front - lined up on the side wall - about a BILLJION smock-topped, tiny strap, above-the-knee frilly sundresses. In a yellow/brown one, a purple/dark purple, and in a navy/floral print. ....I bought 2. And seriously - they had a TON..... made me wonder if they forgot to put them out months ago, bc they had enough for an entire shipment.
So check out your Target's! They may have them too, and for $10, you too can have a new Bonnaroo dress that needs no fixin! love ya Ladies!

well yes we DO need GFT nametags! I had some ideas last year... but all of them were way too late to do.
We can have a button - then it can go on our wicked fun Roo bags, and we can recognize each other inside Centeroo as well. Like a secret club badge! for example:
random rooer #1: "wtf with all these dang GFT buttons?"
random rooer #2: "yeah, what does it all MEAN???"
random rooer #1: "ive seen them everywhere... but only girls have them. Maybe they're giving them away in the garnier tent?"
random rooer #2: "possible... especially since all these girls are cute as sh*t"
random rooer #1: "hey man, i was in the garnier tent and i didnt get a button"
random rooer #2: "yeah but you definitely arent' as cute as they are..."

Alright, that's it, I'm making us stickers that say "Official Sexy Bonnaroo Chick" or something like that so everyone can be like "MAN WHERE YOU DO GET ONE OF THOSE?!"

Hi, everyone!
I haven't been back on this forum since Roo. I had an amazing time. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going again. But if I do, I need to decide how I'm shielding myself from that Tennessee sun. I got so sunburned on Friday that I was unable to attend any day shows the rest of the time. I literally had blisters covering my shoulders.
So what I'm trying to figure out is what fabric I could use to create a shawl of some kind. I saw a girl who was extremely fair like myself who had one. I didn't ask her what it was made of because I wasn't burned yet. Go fig. So if anyone has any ideas, toss em at me.
Thanks ladies. Hope you had a great time, as well.
^^ That's awful, candynickel! I had a lightweight long-sleeved cotton cardigan with me at all times. If I felt my skin was getting too hot/burned, I would put it on. I got it at Old Navy back in the spring. Be on the lookout for something similar when spring 2010 rolls around. Or if you really want to make a shawl, I would stick with a light-colored cotton for the sake of breathe-ability.
IDEA: Someone crafty here in the GFT should make some cute shawls and sell them for Roo!!! (plasticpepper, I'm looking your way!)
I saw a bunch of girls with really thin, pretty scarves that they used as shaws over their shoulders. Good for blocking sun, and you can wet it down to cool off.

you can scam those at the thrift store for like a buck....check it out. im a scarf hound and i get my best ones there - the large ones are often in the swimwear section or with the shawls
Alright, that's it, I'm making us stickers that say "Official Sexy Bonnaroo Chick" or something like that so everyone can be like "MAN WHERE YOU DO GET ONE OF THOSE?!"
^^^Yes Pepper! And I will go ahead and say it out loud - I am making us insanely awesome buttons. Little ones that arent' intrusive - but CRAZY CUTE and just for GFT!!! This roo is gonna be awesome.
....is it bad that it's only October and Im getting pumped up? hmm...maybe I should concentrate on Christmas.

^^Please make buttons! I love buttons! Oh, and I don't think it's bad that you're already getting pumped for Roo! That's just nonsense! It's never too early! (I like to tell myself that anyway! )
There is nothing wrong with being pumped already. I've had somewhat of a rough year, so looking forward to June is like a little daydream escape I can't wait!!

I was at my Target on Friday, and these sundresses are now 75% off.... so I got a cute smocked-top Roo sundress for under $6!!!! They had some long maxi-style dresses for the same price but they weren't cotton so I opted out.

I went to Old Navy today (thanks to Zoe's 30% coupon) and got a bunch of nice stuff. I got a really cute black and white cotton sun-dress and some other great bargains. Good stuff at Old Navy right now. They didn't have the trench coat I wanted, so I used the 30% off online and ordered it there

I wish I was going to be there to hang out with you
Wear an extra GFT button for me and find a cute little dirty hippie guy to flirt with for the weekend (unless you have found a new man by then, which I'm sure you will).
