i just don't like anything close against my body at roo. i'm hot enough without something hugging me all day. i just wear a pair of bike shorts under my skirts/dresses and i'm good to go.
most of mine of ankle-length, though. that way if i for some reason don't have a blanket, i still have something to sit on.
I will have my mountainsmith bag with me. It's actually a fanny pack ( I know, that sounds hideous, it really isn't!!), but the strap is adjustable so I can sling it over my shoulder and the pack will still sit nicely on my back instead of hanging too low and making my shoulder hurt. Also, if I'm at a really dark or crowded show, or any indoor venue, I can put it around my waist and dance without feeling constricted or worrying about stepping on it/losing it if it's on the ground. I really love this bag and recommend it to anyone!

I bought a camelbak for last year....and never once used it. I didn't seem to need so many things where I would fill an entire back pack. Instead I bought a fabric back that slings across my body. It didn't have any interior pockets which made it a little more difficult to find things ( I did put all my little stuff in separate ziplock bags to make it a bit easier.) This year I am going to search for a more structured purse style that can sling across the body.
Oh yea... those little hand held fans pretty much saved me during Bonnaroo. I went through two of them!
I don't feel like I've seen as many cute dresses/skirts this year as I did last year. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough or maybe they're not out yet? I've already bought one dress from Old Navy, but last year I bought 4 dress from Target. They are slacking this year!
If the company has a good return policy, then there's only the problem of shipping. Though for most of the larger companies, if you do a search for "store + coupon," you often can find a % off or free shipping. And then check ebates.com - I almost never shop online without starting there.
This past Black Friday, I went to the mall and found some clothes I really wanted from Ann Taylor Loft, but the lines were just ridiculous. So I went home and did some searching - found 10? 20? 30% off (can't remember exactly but it was better than the in-store discount) + free shipping + 5% back through ebates + no tax since I was shopping online (this varies by store and state).
Of course, this was a Black Friday deal, but I almost always get enough off my purchase to offset the shipping for anything I need to return.
edit: and many mall stores let you return to the store, which is awesome because there's usually a better selection/range of sizes available online. AND you get to try on in the comfort of your own home and immediately try the items with other stuff in your closet to see if it works.
You just reminded me... I was gonna tell you ladies, as much as I dislike going in there, Rue21 has some gorgeous tie dyed dresses with crocheted halter tops for like 20 some odd dollars. I'm going back on pay day and buying on for sure. I'll see if I can find a link in a bit.
^^thats where i got that dress! I love love rue 21. its my fav. they have such pretty skirts and dresses in there right now and i wish i could buy them all!

You were the one I saw! There are so many posts on this thread I couldn't find it. But thanks! I really wanted a skirt from them but I was thinking I'd get a dress before I go and maybe buy a skirt when I get to Roo... as a piece of memorabilia as I've never been. I don't know if that's a good idea? Anyone have any input on this? As in, is selection at Roo any better than what I'd find on ebay, etc.?

meh...with shipping costs taking out, it will probably cost about the same depending on what kind of material it is, so no biggie. i doubt the craftsmanship will be any worse, but just make sure you check for any loose threads and whatnot. all in all, you should be fine

Oh, yes. You know this, Kristen! If I may call you that! lol. I'm a size 18 so I was trying to find something that was comfy yet hide these child-bearing hips. Also, Rainbow Brite 4 life!!! Why did they bring back Strawberry Shortcake and not Rainbow Brite? The world may never know.

lol yes I need something to accentuate my extreme curves from child birthing too so I'm all about the cute skirts!
I love Rainbow Brite so much I would be pissed if they brought her back and it was some gay crap.
The new Strawberry Shortcake sucks, & the new Care Bears are horrible.

Yeah. I was just really in love with those dresses. I wanted one that was cute and exactly what I wanted (hopefully). So now I'm just going to look around for more... Also, check the skirts. They run around $20-some. Then $8 for shipping. I'm not going to lie right now and say I will not buy one of those skirts. I'm just pacing myself.
128 pages and I'm done! ;D First up, thanks to all the lovely ladies and a few dudes who contributed to this thread. Gave me lotsa ideas for my first Bonnaroo (but not my first festival -- That was Summer Camp 2008!)
I'll be making some dresses, skirts, tunic dresses and possibly a hoodie I found a tutorial for on Craftster.org. Would post links but it's almost 2 a.m. and I'm cross-eyed and the links are in my Craftster account....
Big karma to alieblue for the tip on the Kmart bike shorts. Picking those up and also some awesome slim sports bras at Old Navy. I hoop and since I tend to do tricks while leaning forward, my boobs don't want to stay in a bathing suit (and I'm not that blessed). Already have the Alice style Crocs, bought 'em for hooping and they will be perfect for 'Roo!! All I really have to get that'll be more than $15/each will be a Camelbak (the 2008 sutra, found a good deal) and these leg pocket things from Etsy:
