Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
If you have a companion pass you could always say your RV is coming in later and you are saving the spot. Not sure this would actually work.
Nope.
I'd say it depends on who is out there guiding you in. I've done it but I actually had 3 RVs coming in next day and they allowed me to take up all the space.
But if you didn't have an RV the next day they will move someone in your setup.

I am considering a pop up w/ AC for this year and was looking at a 4000 watt max propane generator. It supposedly runs 10 hours on a half load per tank. Anyone know if I would have trouble getting that much propane in?

Are you sure it runs on propane? Do you have any specifications on that? Brand? Model?
I know they make them but they are usually "built in" generators to supply emergency power to homes.

So from what I can find out it uses "It boasts an engine run time of 10 hours at 50% on a common 20Lb (gas grill type) cylinder (LPG cylinder not included)" as per the Home Depot website.
But something here does not make sense. Under the specifications it uses 1.0 gal per hour at full load.
A 20 pound propane container holds a usable 4.1 gallons of propane, so at full load it would run four hours and half load eight hours.
BTW, with running the AC (13,500btu) in the camper it will run at around 14-15 amps (starting is much higher. So 1800 watts just of for the AC. A 15,000 BTU will use a little more.
OK, so with that all said, figure running the AC 12 hours per day? Maybe more? That is a lot of 20 pound propane tanks!! I think that would frown on this ?
You have enough time to look of another option. If you are to buy one look at the Champion brand of generators, they are not a Honda but will be fine for the weekend.

Hope this helps you..
Thanks for the help. In all honesty, we were planning on getting the cheapest used pop up we could find that has a/c OR buy the cheapest pop we can find and put a window a/c in it. The one I own already is about 5,000btu and I've also read the most basic rooftop a/c units for campers start at 8,000btu. I have done research, and it's definitely possible. With that being said, we were planning on using the a/c about 5 hours a day. Just in the morning when it gets too hot to sleep, so we can sleep till around noon, assuming we go to bed around 5am. And that would basically be all we would be running with the generator. So it would surely be at half load or less, which would give us around 8-10 hours per tank, right? Which is why I was thinking 2 tanks get us through the weekend. Not to mention, most pop ups have 2 tanks mounted on the tongue that we wouldn't really need, so we could use those or use them for extra in case we run out. I could be completely delusional here, but I feel like I thought this through pretty well. Your opinion is appreciated.

This is an extremely useful thread, thanks. My friends and I have booked an RV and purchased our RV pass (GA). This will be my 5th bonnaroo, 1st time going RV. first time in life actually being in an RV. this is true for all my friends as well. we know nothing about RVs at all and this will be a learning experience for us. this is a silly question, but its really just for reassurance. how is it DRIVING the rv? I have a little plymouth neon, and I've never really driven anything else besides that. luckily ONE of our rv goers has a bus license, but coming from baltimore its a 12-13 hour drive so we all want to pitch in some hours of driving. I'm really nervous driving something that big with 6 other people in the vehicle! any tips on that?
besides for the journey, I am beyond stoked about having an RV this year. I have always walked passed the RVers with such envy..

Congratulations on your rental and adventure
As far as driving here are a couple of things you want to watch for:
- The height of the RV. Do not go through any drive through at fast food establishments. Also watch at gas stations. If you stick with larger truck stops they will normally have higher canopies to allow for higher vehicles.
- Turning. While visiting gas stations or driving around town, watch your turning radius. Make sure to swing wide when pulling up to a island at a gas station or turning into a shopping mall.
- Eliminate distractions. With everyone in the RV try to keep the conversation, music, phone calls to a minimum until you get comfortable driving. Let someone else do the navigating or look for rest areas and let the driver concentrate on driving. Have the co-pilot also watch for heights, road signs and other traffic.
- Set the cruise control for 62 MPH. You will get better gas milage, have more control for a panic stop and get there 20 min later. Don't fly down the interstate at 70-75 passing cars. This is a recipe for a accident. Stay in the right (slow lane).
- Look ahead of the cars in front of you. Watch for brake lights and traffic congestion. Keep plenty of space between you and the car in front of you.
Here are a couple of videos, although they are exampling a class A motorhome a class C will be similar. A little dry but grab a beer and take a look. Make sure to watch video #3. Link Here
Here is a video of a Rental RV walkthrough. Link Here
That is about it for now. I will post if I think of anything more. And let me know if you have any more questions.
I am taking our motorhome out this weekend camping so I will take some notes for you.

Bug- Thank you SO much. I''m going to copy and paste everything you wrote to all my friends going, and having everyone watch those videos. It usually takes 12 hours to get to roo for us, but I have a feeling we're going to go slow and take plenty of breather stops so it may be a longer journey than anticipated. turning scares me, but we are picking up our RV an hour away so I'm going to practice a bit before we actually start out journey.
62 MPH cruise control is a great tip.
thank you so much! i will be reading this thread over and over until june

Hey all, First time inforooer here. I'm coming to the festival for the first time in an RV with 5 other ppl. How are the facilities in in the RV are compared to the GA sites. Also, I never had a need to go in there, can GA folks stop by RV sites?
Lastly I hear that you can schedule water drops/sewage dumps on site. How is that done? do you do it ahead of time or in the moment?

Hello and welcome Sam.
The facilities are a large grassy field. The spots are approximatly 20X50. Do a image search on google and you will see. General Admission tent camping can visit General Admission RV Camping and vice versa. General Admission cannot visit VIP.
You will need to flag down the water and sewage trucks. Maybe you can get an phone number from them? Ask when you see one.

I think i affectionately love this man!! Such good information.
New RVers... PAY ATTENTION to the walk through when you pick up. And bribe Leo for his #.
Last year the service in the GA area was not good. We bring poster paper and markers for listing who saw what. Last year I ended up making 'we need RV service" signs and gorilla taping them to our EZ up. Ended up making a bunch of those for the neighbors too.
One of the contracted porto men .. Great Guy!! Took care of us for cash (less than advertised since it really was not his job.) I'd give that man a huge hug if I saw him again.
one question I have that was not covered by the video. We have 14 folks flying into ATL and driving 2 RV's up to Manchester. With a group this big, I don't want to have only one key to open up the darn RV. So is the key to the RV door different than the ignition key to drive the RV? I was thinking about stopping at Lowes or HD to get extra keys cut so we don't have to hide a key on the RV.

wow gainsb, great minds think alike. this was my plan all along. we are only bringing 1 RV, but i was planning on asking the rental company for extra keys if they had any. but if they didnt, my plan was to get the keys made at Lowes or HD myself. I too would like to know if there are separate keys for the door and ignition, but to be honest it doesnt matter much, once you get the keys from the rental place just take whichever key will open the door and make copies for everyone. also does the storage under the rv have a separate lock as well, or does it get popped open like a trunk from the inside?

Usually the key for the ignition is separate from the door (because the engine key is from the chassis manufacture and the door is fro the coach manufacture).
Since you are traveling with a group keep the door key in undisclosed location outside the motorhome. In a cooler, outside compartment, under a rug, door step.
This way everyone can get in and out and you do not have to carry keys around the festival site with you.
i do not feel comfortable leaving the keys outside as somebody can see us picking up from our "hiding spot" and wait till we are all gone to raid our vehicle. now i understand most peopl
