Hi all, I'm new to the board and this will be my first bonnaroo. I dont want to take up alot of space so im combining 2 current questions i have. I realize this may moved to an another appropriate board, and thats fine..and I've looked around and not really seen these questions answered....anyway....
Is there a map or layout of Bonnaroo on here or anywhere, so I can get the general idea of the entire place....and is there cell service (i figure there is, just want to make sure so i have a way to keep up with my group.) Thanks in advance!
As far as cell service goes, it can be fickle, but I though it worked without any problems last year, for me(I have cingular). It was a vast improvement last year from 04 when I went.

From previous posts talking aout cell phones, I think if you have Verizon you are good to go. Not sure about other providers. Everyone with us had Verizon and we used text messaging to meet up etc. Never had any problems.

Basically you'll be herded in and have to park where you are lead to.
Tent-only is in the darker green area between East 1st St and East Broadway on the map. Right outside VIP Heaven, consider tent-only as Pergatory, right between Heaven and Hell.
Before I get flamed, Tent-Only is actually a little heaven here on Earth.

So The "Tent-Only" (Which I will be in Tent Only) Is the Darker-Green Section between East 1st & East Broadway.. Camp Shooter Mcgavin and Camp Happy Gilmore.. That seems perfect, its so close to Centeroo.. So then what are all those other Camps far as hell away.. For example, Camp Austin Powers, Camp Goldmember, Camp Mugato.. those are extremely far away.. how do I make sure I wont get stuck THERE?!
Well there's no guarantee that you won't get stuck there as far as parking your car. It doesn't matter where your camping they direct you to where they want you to go. It's pretty much the earlier you get there the better. There are plenty of posts on this. But if you want to avoid bfe it seems the best way not to is.... Don't arrive weds. night, or super late thursday and don't take bushy branch road.
When you arrive, you will be directed where to park. I might be close, or it might be far away. Check out the arrival times/parking area threads for more information.
No cars are allowed in the dark green areas (i.e. tent-only). If you are parked to far away, you can carry all your stuff from your car and camp in the tent-only section. If you are parked close enough, you can choose to remain camped by your car.
Tent-only got crowded pretty fast last year, so an early Thursday arrival time is suggested.
Thanks Rooster, I was kinda wondering about the whole car/tent situation, it makes alot more sense now.. So wherever they tell me to park, if I decide to move and walk to the "tent only" section, my car will stay put around other fellow campers that chose to stay with their car?

^^^If you arrive Wednesday night/early Thursday morning you WILL be put in BFE - the fill from back to front - but as said before - you always have the option of lugging your stuff to tent only if you get put in BFE

That's something you should discuss with your car.

Wow, GOOD TO KNOW!!!! THANK YOU.. I was plannin on being early to get a good spot and shit... I would have ended up far as hell in BFE.. So thank you for the imput and knowledge..
I guess my next question is, Whats the ideal time to show up, to get a close spot? Like 7-9am on Thursday morning? And also, How long is the wait from the time I arrive -> To the time I actually get my assigned spot? Like, how long is the wait in line? I've seen pictures of a line of cars that goes on for what seems like forever..

This is the question every one wants to answer but, unfortunately, parking is pretty much a crapshoot. Usually the later you arrive the better spot you get except they do fill the BFE in the top right of the map sometime Thursday afternoon so. I've always arrived around 8am and got a good spot but my sister arrived a few cars behind me one year and she was in BFE while I was 2 minutes away. Like I said "crapshoot"
Getting there at 8-10 am lets you get a spot in Tent Only which can fill up quickly.

I've waited 6 hours (in '03) but usually it's an couple hours depending on how THP decides to direct traffic.

As far as cell phones - I'm on Sprint, one of my friends was on T-mobile I believe, and the other two were on Verizon. And I don't remember ever having any issues with service. But there are two bigger problems - noise and batteries. I can't tell you how many shouting-match conversations I had because one of my friends insisted on calling me instead of just texting me. Texting is WAY easier if everybody has the capability. And batteries can be an issue too...but this year I got myself a little charger thingie that charges the phone off of AA batteries, so I should be good to go!
And as far as the map/camping/etc situation, it seems like other people are pretty much answering everything. But yeah, like people said, if you show up on Wednesday or super early on Thursday, you can be sure you'll end up in BFE, so unless you're definitely going tent-only don't show up that early. Apart from that there's really no way to know when you should arrive or where you'll end up, so just hope for the best. Take a look at the map so you'll be able to get a good idea of where you are once you get to your campsite and you can decide if you want to head to tent-only or not.
I know that they had internet in certain places in Centeroo... How is it getting internet on the property in regards to WiFi? I'm going to be using my iPod Touch to do a lot of messaging and e-mailing...
