Alrighty, I have assembled a PVC flag pole together and it measure about 12 feet high but I have a little problem, I was originally going to zip tie the thing to the ladder on the RV but I don't even know if there is a ladder on the RV so I am looking for other options. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good way to get this thing to stand? Any ideas for a base or a way to mount this thing would be appreciated.

I'm bringing one of those flags (usually orange) that younger kids have on the backs of their bicycles, except we're going to change the flag into something cooler. It's about 5 feet long and we're just gonna put it on top of the car.
If you want to plant it in the ground, get a piece of PVC w/ a larger diameter (large enough so that your pole fits in w/o much wiggle room) ~4ft long, cut one end at an angle and hammer it into the ground (6-9"). Slide your flagpole into the base piece, all set!

Thought about that as well after I looked at your page (very helpful by the way). I might go with that, or I was going to take a large T-shaped PVC tube, cap it on the two sides, and then fill it with sand, then put a larger PVC tube sticking up and place the flagpole in that.

I'd suggest going with Leo's in the ground idea because of the possiblity of another wicked thunder and lightning storm like we had in '04. It would suck to have to turn in a damaged RV cause the flag pole worked loose and tore into something...

I checked out Leo's design, I like the idea for a tent, but when you're talking about an RV you've got to get it above 10-12 feet if not higher, to see it over the other RV's.
Also let me be more specific when I say attach it to the front of your RV, don't attach to the plastic portion...pop the hood and attach to the metal hook for the hood and also attach underneath the front bumper, there is generally a hook there too.
If you attach your flagpole to the ladder, place it higher up on the ladder and drill holes into the PVC large enough for the heavy-duty zip ties, connect to ladder using drilled spots for added support.

Well here is a little problem. I gues our RV we are renting does not have a ladder (strange, I know) and as far as leaving our hood open all day, that's not gonna happen. Although I believe most people are good, there are a few that are not and I wouldn't want to take the risk of anything happening to our RV. So now, anyone have an idea of how to make a stand that could be put on top of the RV. The flagpole I built is about 15 feet high but I can make it smaller if need be.

Wow even in an attempt to be more specific, the idea is still completely pictured different. I'm happy that you found a simple design Shotglass75, by no means did I say leave your hood up, but I guess I should have been more clear..I was simply giving you the areas where you could safely attach the flagpole from now own I will remember the KISS method when I post instructions.

I don't know what the KISS method is and I hope I didn't come across like I wasn't appreciative of your ideas. I didn't mean to. Everyone here has been extremely helpful in helping me make this. Once it is 100% complete (hopefully by tomorrow) I will try and post some pics.
KISS is Keep It Simple Silly (well, most people would say the last part is Stupid, but I like to picture us a a big group of easygoing buddies so I chose Silly).
Some people might interpret "popping the hood" as raising the hood. When I jump-start someone's car I ask them to pop the hood first. I'm sure groovelogik meant to only unlatch it enough to get the tiedowns around the lock. Ahhhh, the wonders and confusion of the typed word.
A fellow Dakota owner, I see. I've brought mine to every 'Roo so far. I nearly ran out of gas on the first one waiting 14 hours to get in. We were only 12 miles away when we hit the wall of traffic. 1/3 tank of gas seemed like enough at the time... ;D

Its all good... KISS is a term used when things explained become too complex, meaning "Keep it simple stupid", I often tend to over explain..when it just would have been easier had I taken a photo of my RV and the flagpole, but that would have made sense...lol

I guess I am just not used to people being nice on message boards. Like I said, the people on the Coachella boards are a bunch of dicks most of the time. Thanks for all of the help once again. My flag will look like my Avaitar. If you see it, come say hi.
