Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I was reflecting on what was so special about the Roo, besides the obvious. What causes it to be on your mind 12 months out of the year? What causes it to be refrenced in seemingly unrelated conversations?
I belive the answer is Bonnaroo is 3 or 4 days of LIFE ACCELERATED. Here what I mean by that. In our daily lives we go to work, take care of our family, and the myriad of other respnsibilitys on our plate. In doing these things we are just trying to maintain, in a sense. This leaves little room to exercise the creative muscles.
Enter Bonnaroo: 3 or 4 days when you can devote to Music, Art, Friends, and Community. Most of us don't have that opportunity, very often at least. Thats what I mean by life Accelerated, three days of experiencing these things uninhibited. What a Wonderful thing!!
Anyway this has been stuck in my head for days now, had to get it out before it broke out! So what do you think makes the Roo so special?
I completely agree, knoxville, especially about the uninhibited thing. Last year was the first festival I've ever been to, and I have never in my life felt so free. Free from every day problems, work, school, everything. I was just able to have fun with my best friend, listen to some great shows, and experience life

Bonnaroo gives you a sense of community that's pretty much missing in day to day life. Even though there's a big mob of people, you still feel like you're in on some secret that the outside world is unaware of. I'm probably one of the elders around here, I've been going to festivals of one sort or another since the seventies, but I always get that same sensation when I get together with my kind of people... Nothing left to do, but smile, smile, smile...
In my current state I feel deeply inspired to write a lengthly essay in response to Knoxville's provacative and well worded question/thread. I doubt that will happen though. I've felt deeply inspired to do a great many wonderous and splendid things; I've actually done far fewer.
To state it briefly:
"What do you think makes the 'Roo so special?"
I think its a dead heat between two equally important things:
1) The music and 2) The people/environment/community/atmosphere/scene
I think there is a real magic in the relationship between the two.
When I am at Bonnaroo, I feel like I belong. The other things in my life that I can say that about (my marriage, my home, my family, my group of friends) are the most cherished and wonderful things in the world to me. Bonnaroo is one of my favorite things in my life and my world after those because I can go there and be myself. I can truly do whatever I want, with the only limit being that I respect other people's right to do the same. Ultimately its sincere, honest music played from the heart that makes it happen.
The feeling of going somewhere for 3-4 days and not thinking about anything. Just being myself, doing what ever I want and knowing that no one is going to look at me twice.
Then there is the music. I think we all know that the music just brings a smile to your face no matter how every day life might be treating you.
I wish my friends that look at me like I"m from another planet when I gush over Bonnaroo (and music in general) would just once experience it and know the happy feeling I get when I'm there!!!
Oh, and thanks to my bud KC for being the one to introduce me to this way of life! You're the bestest!!!! ;D

What makes Roo so great?
1. Acceptance. No matter who you are or what you do, you're just part of the big family. I remember a great deal of people being more than kind to me last year when I nearly died, so I have to give mad props to the people.
2. The Music. Roo turned me on to some fabulous bands. I'm hoping to get the same out of it this year. I appreciate the diverse range of bands, because I don't listen to just one genre of music. I'd love to see some electronic stuff going on!
3. Letting Loose. I thank roo so much for letting me sort of discover a little bit more of who I am. I saw so many people getting to be who they are, without any inhibitions.
4. People. I met so many awesome people that I still keep in touch with! I'll see them all at roo this year, and hopefully see you guy from inforoo that I met at the playground LAST year
