Yeah, you gotta love a tent that comes with it's own screened-in porch. We don't use it to chill in because it's too small, but it's a great place to store drying towels and muddy shoes.
hey. i just wanted to throw in my two cents about VIP since I did it this year and will again be doing it this year.
first off the showers are indeed awesome and they are hot showers which i noticed had been left out. depending on when you hit them up you may run into cold only.
the shitters are sweet! nice and clean, with separate urinals. they have hardwood floors and aircond. with music piped in.
the VIP party on Thursday was I THOUGHT pretty cool. I got to watch The Duo with about 100 or so people, drink FREE beer and chow on an above average buffet considering we're at a rock festival on a farm. they mix it up all weekend.
The food is free the whole weekend, with a breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet set up the throughout the 4 days. you also get free water and pop and the beer is like 1-2 dollars cheaper than what it is for everybody else. you also will find an additional VIP tent next to the main stage behind the VIP bleachers. in this tent is beer and free stuff like cookies, chips, pop and water, plus nice couches and bif comfy chairs to relax in. it was a nice retreat from the sun and/or rain.
i thought that those peeps that watch the shows from the stage up on those platforms were VIP, but that's the REAL VIP. we get the bleachers which i used during govt mule and black crowes. the ground was a bit muddy and i was tired so the bleachers were real nice and offers a great view. i also openly puffed.
the security is nonexistent. i could have walked in from the VIP area with a cooler, pool, 4 ft bong, and a lawn chair. they only check your wrist.
the campground is very very chill. lots of grass and lots of space between you and your neighbor. i never heard a sound late night back in the VIP area. i walked maybe twice into the GA camping and man it was scary. it was shocking to think that i have camped like that many many times. it was enough too make me realize I will never go back to GA at the roo.
umm.... getting in once i found my exit took maybe 5 min. NO WAIT IN OR OUT! it was nice.
i guess the last thing is that VIP enables you to really truly enjoy yourself w/o a worry or complaint because you aren't really ever tired. you're so close to the centeroo and stage that you don't waste important energy walking from your campsite. plus the VIP tents are aircond. with all kinds of couches and chairs so it's real nice being able to pop in there from time to time to chill out and grab a quick bite or get some water.
to those thinking about it, DO IT. to those who already bought the tickets, enjoy!
Sorry to resurrect this from the dead, but I wanted to give my two cents. Put quite simply, once you go VIP, you'll never go back. My wife and I have been to the roo since it started. First 3 years we did GA. We lucked out the second year and got a spot right outside the main stage entrance (where VIP is now). The other two years we had a bit of a hike. We did VIP last year and OMG! Everyone has pretty much mentioned the perks....but I'll expand on a few:
* More space....ok, we aren't talking 3 or 4 feet....I think on either side of us we had an extra 10' till our neighbor, only one row of cars, not the two they do in GA, and the other row as easily 30'-40' away. Now, don't think this stops you from meeting your neighbors, it doesn't. It's nice to have some room to stretch and not have to climb over bodies, tents, etc to get back "home".
* Showers...I'd say warm, not HOT. And I was up at 7am every morning (I'm just an early riser) and went straight to the showers. Yes, you can be fine with not doing it for 4 or 5 days, but to be able to is a life saver.
* Food....yes it's free, and for the most part basic...but it's FREE, and I don't have to make it, clean up after it, etc. Web site says hours are 11a - 9p or something, but they never followed that.
* Price...folks are saying it's soooo expensive, blah blah blah....do the math. that's what we did. Doing GA, and having to by food, fuel for the grill, beverages, etc, you end up spending just about the same amount as if you did VIP and had all that taken care of for you.
* Poopers....Yes, air conditioning....and sinks.....
* Line getting in.....well, we waited about 2-3 hours last year till we were parked and into the site. Still not great, but better than the 14+ hours we've spent in years past and in Coventry. Thing is you need to go to the hotel first to check in and get your wrist bands, etc. Then you have to fight traffic to get in line. And you're always going to have your non-VIPers trying to get in line and backing everything up.
Overall, it's well worth it. You can always travel into GA and get that experience. But to have a clean, comfortable, spacious home to go to is always good.
just to add my experience with traffic/parking. i never waited in line. not for more than 2 minutes was my car ever stopped. got there thursday afternoon.

Cool - glad to see this one resurface. This being my first year in the vip - I was curious about arrival times. Does anybody know how soon you can show up at the Holiday Inn to pick up your stuff on thursday? I absolutely loved having a tent already up as the sun was coming up thursday morning last year, and would love to do the same again.
We'll be in a green explorer with a "You are Here" sign across the windshield. Just so folks know where they are.

For real decadence, try the VIP motel package. You get your own bed/shower/room. Nothing fancy, but it keeps the rain out. There's a shuttle bus to take you back and forth. I'm sure it's a whole different experience sleeping under the stars with your 80 thousand closest friends, but if you're older and/or put a premium on comfort, this is a nice way to go.

Looks like my girlfriend and I are going the VIP route. With a friday night like that I want to save my energy...we look forward to seeing all of you there.
Since we are not sure if we are taking my Jetta (which we took last year and it was packed to the roof) or a friend's larger vehicle, space is a concern. Is bottled water free in VIP? A few less cases of water in the car could really help.
I think their logistics got in the way. When they originally posted info on VIP tickets they indicated there would be electric. I guess they changed their minds. See the email I received below where they confirmed electric. Oh well, it is Bonnaroo. _______________________

Customer - 02/14/2006 08:29 PM I find your instructions confusing. You indicate there is an RV space for VIP tickets which includes electrical hookups. I have purchased the RV pass? Will I have electrical hookup or is there something I am missing?

I just want to reiterate this question and see if anybody knows. Is the hotel open wednesday night? I've arrived wednesday night since 03 and plan to do the same this year.
