After staying in a hotel while attending Bonnaroo 2005, my two friends and I have determined that the only way to go is RVing. I need showers and a bed, so camping isn't really an option as far as I am concerned.
My question for you all is about the RV campgrounds - is there a place to plug in your RV so that it can have power? What about water and disposing of sewage?
No, you will not be able to plug in your RV. Most larger RV's will come with an onboard generator for power. Once your grey water tank and sewage tank are full, you are out of luck. Last year they were supposed to have a company that would fill up your fresh water storage and pump out the black water tank for a fee. I don't know if that happened or not, because I didn't get to go to the Roo last year. I would just use everything conservatively. When taking a shower, turn off the water after you have soaped up, and back on again to rinse. Our shower in our camper has a shut off on the shower head to make this easier. Use the porta-potties provided some so that you don't fill up the black tank the first couple of days.

Thanks for the info Jennifer. I hope ours has a generator, but I am not sure because it is my friend's grandma's. I really hope that company that pumps out bad water and adds extra good water is available. That would be huge... I like long showers. Anyone know anything about this?
keep in mind....if you take a long shower it will fill up your waste tank very quickly....if you cannot empty it you are SOL. I would suggest a very quick shower! just conserve the h2o as much as possile....long shower, not good! just my .02
I have to agree with jgg. You will not be able to take long showers regardless. One long shower would fill up your waste tank and empty your fresh water tank. I'm sure it will be very expensive to have your freshwater tank filled and your waste tank emptied daily. If a long shower is a necessity, you might want to stay offsite in a hotel like you did before. I'm not trying to discourage you, but their are realities that come along with RV camping.
Also, generators are more common with motorhomes than tow behind campers. We went to Roo two times with a popup camper. Last spring we got a motorhome with a generator and shower and were not able to go to Roo. Oh well. We did just fine in the popup without a generator or shower. It sure was nice to have a comfortable bed. I did invest in a good shower tent. This might be an option for you as well:
Anyone know exactly what types of vehicles are considered RV's? I'm planning on coming in a Van that holds about 12 people. We'd love to park in the RV area and just set up a couple tents / shade shelters around the Van. Would that be allowed if we paid for the pass?
Mainly, it would be nice to know we were going to be closer to Centeroo, and finding a place that doesn't want to bend us over on the security deposit for an RV is proving next to impossible.
Our generator uses gas from the main tank which holds 100 gallons. It uses about a gallon an hour. Really, the main thing you'll need the generator for is the air conditioner. Lights and your water pump will run off of the 12v system. Fill up your tank before you get into the Roo, and you should be fine. If it were me, I'd run the generator during the hottest part of the day.
Does anyone have any idea how the generators on RVs work? Will a full tank of gas take us through Bonnaroo? Any info will be appreciated.
If it is on a driveable (RV), it will pull from the main tank. If it's a stand-alone (pull-behind, pop-up, etc), it will have it's own gas tank. The common generator burns from 1/4 to 1 gallon an hour depending on the load that's put on it. If you're running A/C off of one, count on nearly full load. The tanks on the stand-alone generators are generally 2-5 gallons depending on the brand/size/etc. To answer your question, if you use it conservatively, you should have no problem with an RV generator. However, a stand-alone will require a good amount of extra fuel to be brought along with you.
last year it was $30 to pump out the grey water, and $30 to refill. Seperate Trucks for each. Seperate fees for each. You only need to do each once MAXIMUM. However, the problem was, If you were not on a main strip, they didn't come to you. they just drove up and down the main roads, but there are hundreds of RVS not on the main roads. Luckily we were on a main road last year, so it worked out for us.
If you got there on wednesday night you got put in an area fairly close to the main stage. If you got there later, you were put WAY WAY off to the back of the venue
