i cant believe there isnt a thread on this yet. everybody needs a poop tent. poop tent is the key to happiness. this is what you need
1) a cheapy wal mart $10 tent, or portable shower enclosure 2) 5 gallon bucket or small rubbermaid trash can 3) trash can liners 4) a toilet seat (highly optional) 5) can of glade 60 TP thats pretty much it, some people use kitty litter in the bottom to soak up liquids, but it is far superior to just bag and dispose of everything after every use.
a good poop tent will make any festival goer feel like a king or queen. no more porta-nightmares.
Although your poop tent idea sounds nice, where do you dump your bag of "crap"? I mean, if I were camping near you and you dumped your waste in the garbage can near our tents, I don't think I'd be a happy camper.
I do know that they sell personal porta potties and there is something that you put in them to disinfect as well as take away odors.
well usually one would walk said bag of poo to a dumpster, but a small catapult is another great way to go. you can get pre-made travel shitters but nothin makes youo feel like a bad ass more than shittin in a 5 gallon bucket.
We had a "luggable loo" (a bucket, some bio-friendly blue stuff, liners, and a toilet seat) last year that got utilized for #2 ONCE. My god, we were so burnt out that bringing the thing in the van (where we kept all our food, clothes, etc.) to do it seemed like a good idea. Ewwwwww, you can imagine I'm sure. Then we'd use it to leak in after that, but didn't want to dump it anywhere near us, so it would just sit there sealed up festering in the Tennessee heat...wow...that made for a pleasant clean up on Monday morning.
Hmmmmm, we have thought about this several times, one would think if the "waste" was doubled bagged along with some bio chemicals it would not cause much a problem in the trashcan. They are emptied at least once a day.
We brought our camping porta potty with us last year. It's the kind with a holding tank that you add chemicals to. We were so close to the porta-potties that we just used those. Just listen for the trucks that clean them. There's nothing like a freshly cleaned outhouse. Please keep in mind that the Clean Vibes people have to clean up after we're gone and don't appreciate finding poo in the garbage. If you do have a poo tent, use proper chemicals. Do some research on the PET system. You can get a powder that neutralizes everything.
