Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
A friend of mine was thinking about going to 'roo this year and wanted an idea of what to expect, what to bring, etc. Couldn't find a real good overview around so I started putting something together for him. I started small but just got into it so I thought I'd put it up online. If anyone has the time and interest to check it out it at www.poorvin.com/roo/ I'd certainly appreciate any comments/suggestions.

Great one-stop-shopping, Leo, for people who don't have the time or inclination to spend hours on this board and the listserv archives. I'm sure many a newbie will appreciate your assistance as they prepare for their first Roo!
Have two thought to add. Speaking of port a johns, last year saw a guy walking from his tent to do his "thing". He was carying his own toilet seat tied to a rope. Not a bad idea at all. Guaranteed a dry place to sit.
Also, the grass is high there. We brought a piece of remnant carpet the indoor/outdoor kind for outside the camper -- it worked great. When it rained, the water was able to soak through so we didn't have standing muddy water just outside our stuff. It also dried out faster than a tarp. It cost a little more, but it provided more than it's money's worth in value.
i really like those additions.....especially the toilet seat idea.....oddly enough i held it for like 5 days last year......i have no clue how that was possible but every time i went to the johns i lost the urge shortly upon arrival.....im not expecting my body to be as accomodating this year.....
personal experience tells me to bring salt. my body gave out from drinking too much water and not having enough salt... so if you start feeling faint and are drinking buttloads of water, try eating some salt... or food. haha

The best thing you can do for yourself to keep this from happening is add ORS (oral rehydration salts) or even powdered gatorade to your water bottle once or twice a day. Keeps you hydrated without flushing the electrolytes out of your system. Most times you can find ORS in different flavors so it doesn't taste quite so nasty.
'Nother thing I thought about. Rain boots are a good thing to tuck in also. Some people don't like "mud" (lets all remember this is a cow pasture) between their toes after the first rainfall. Not to mention that they will stay on your feet better than flip flops and are pretty easy to clean and slip in and out of. Just my $.02.....can you tell I'm gettin' ready to pack? Is it to early?
I'm glad people are finding the guide useful. Keep posting other tips! A couple of folks have suggested other places to post it but I'm just going to keep it on my page for now where there is one copy that I can update (or not) easily. That being said, please feel free to repost all of it, parts of it or links to it on websites, blogs etc. I only request that; a.) you say where you got it (if it's not obvious) and b.) you check with me before using it for commercial purposes (my email's in the guide).
Not too original, but a quick skim of this evolving everything-you-need-to-know tipsheet didn't mention it specifically.
Ladies (and perhaps gents), bring travel-size packs of kleenex (sized just bigger than a deck of cards) for the potties while you're in Centeroo. Bring a bunch; better to have too many, and the little packages are easy to carry in your pocket/fannypack/purse/european carryall and share. Plus, bring some antibacterial wipes -- you can get them in a packet the size of the kleenex or even in individual wrappers like at red lobster. You'll appreciate wiping your hands after the portopots, esp. once Sunday rolls around. (they get pretty gross around Sunday afternoon and stay that way till we all go home)
You'll make fast friends if you can offer a tissue to your neighbor after existing a potty thats missing even its cardboard roll.
Yeah, I agree w/ the wipes thing. I've brought them with me to almost every fest. I've been to. Also, most anitbacterial soap has enough alchol in it you can burn a little on the floor of the portapotty if you forgot your flashlight (I'm not kidding).

now thats a helpful tidbit about the soap, well atleast very interesting. although i actually dont doubt my ability to loose a flashlight that is somehow attached to me.

Good info Bella, never been to Bonnaroo without a huge supply of antibacterial wipes, but I didn’t think about the travel-size packs of Kleenex. Very good idea, very handy!
Im thinking if we are walking up to 20-30 min to centerroo....Im sure it would be wise to bring a backpack with essentials(Water,Herb,..) anything else?

Blanket and shower curtain under it or else one of those cheap-o water resistant sheets that now cost, like, $3. I'm sure somebody's got the brand name ... help? Anyway, critical for keeping your bum dry.

Jeff the Lawyer from the listserv swears by Emergen-C. Apparently a powder containing way more Vit C than your body needs (but excess safely excreted in your now-neon yellow pee), and also includes other vitamins too. Just add to a bottle of water and you're set. I deleted his post that contained the list of ingredients, but Emergen-C is all natural. Another listserver had her co-workers (at a medical publishing company) take a look at the list of ingredients, and they agreed that it looked safe. Apparently no caffeine, no ephedrine. You can buy it at GNC, Whole Foods, and other health-food oriented shops. Tangerine is supposed to be the best flavor. Everyone can decide for themselve if/what kind of supplments to take. But Jeff's apparently a one-man marketing machine for Emergen-C; he's made tons of converts because it was such a great energy-provider and all-around feel-better elixer. I added it to my Mitch's What-to-Bringaroo list. (link repeated here, also at the end of this fabulous survival guide: www.eclecticpixel.com/bonnaroo/)

Oh, Jeff said last year he drank two water/Emergen-Cs a day, but thinks that one per day this year will be good. Also recommends drinking one per day starting a week or more before the event to get in top shape for Bonnaroo and all its energy-sapping deliciousness!

Another very good thing for this type of trip for energy is green tea extract. It is an excellent energy booster and also protects against uv rays, its an antioxidant, and the main ingredient egcg provides help for the brain and can even prevent the infection of HIV and AIDS. A nice little do it all supplement.
