Just wondering if anyone who has come from the Northeast could give me an approximate on how long it take from the Boston area? Mapquest says 22 hours but I don't think it will take that long, it's only 1100 miles!
I figure at 70mph for 1000 would be 15 hours and then figure that last 100 miles on the backroads of TN would take an extra 3 or so depending on traffic...
Anyone know what is the better estimate? Oh and the other factor is that we are driving overnight....
We're leaving from Forest Hills area (gotta pick my bf up at the T) around 5:30 and going to sneak through Milton to get to 95. I used to live in Western MA and I know the Masspike at 5:30 can still be cramped through 84.
Maybe we'll all find each other on the highway How are the roads at night? Many police? I hate getting pulled over in a rental.

I can only say; it better not take 20 hours....I am hoping on 16 or 17.... add me into the group of people in MA that were NOT born there....I grew up in FL, and just moved up this way at the end of 2005....
I know I can handle the heat and humidity just fine, however I am a bit concerned about rain because we dont have the gear for it....
although we did get a sweet 5 day cooler at wally world today. But as coccomoe pointed out, it's almost worth it to pay 10 bucks more at a nicer place.
also for everyone worrying about police;
Just be polite to them if you get pulled over, try not to act too nervous, remember its perfectly normal to be nervous during a traffic encounter and cops understand this....
The most important thing to remember is the always say NO to the search and tell them you need to be on your way, don't get into any details, just explain you are in a hurry and you need to go asap.
This is important because they have no right to "calls out the dogs" for refusing a search, if you can afford a even half way decent attorney, this evidence should be thrown out, especially if they actually did make you wait...remember, saying no to a search is not probably cause for a search.
Also understand that they are not going to be trying to arrest everyone going to bonnaroo with a little bit of pot, they did that study in '05 that said how much money went into the city? that includes lots of sales tax, that would go to the state, so the cops are not going to bite the hand that feeds them....well the ones near manchester anyways, other county's in TN maybe, but they prob. just want to write lots of speeding tickets / revenue those days i would imagine?
I can only imagine how small the police force was in manchester before the concert started, compared to now, the police probably love/hate the event....they understand the money thing, even in TN. But hate the people because of the hassle.

whats up everyone? 4 of us mjerkstores will be leaving Boston around noon time Wedns. we made the trek down in 04 and it took us about 16 hrs. taken the pike to 84 all the way to Scranton to jump on 81 south for a looooooooooooooooooong time!
we got a huge screen tent 30X15 and will be playing washers AKA cornhole, AKA red neck horseshoes if anyone else is interested.
I couldnt get the extra time off work to drive so I am flying down and renting a wee little car there. Also it may only take 18 hours there which is fine but coming back is the real issue as I always feel WRECKED after these types of events.
Sad i couldnt drive though as I am only in this country a while longer and it would have been a great little road trip.
See I've had good luck with 95 through RI and CT at the time we are leaving, but while in college I did the Pike drive at 5 more times than I want to remember and it was almost never pleasant. We'll see what happens on Wednesday I guess!
