After a long and mythology-heavy buildup, Gorillaz have officially announced their first new album in six years. It’s called Humanz and will be out on 4/28.
Four new tracks are debuting across three different radio stations (BBC Radio 1, Beats 1, and Radio X), and they’re the same ones that popped up on Tidal earlier today. Those four songs are “Ascension” (featuring Vince Staples), “We Got The Power” (featuring Savages’ Jehnny Beth), “Saturnz Barz” (featuring Popcaan), and “Andromeda” (featuring D.R.A.M.).
Damon Albarn’s old Oasis frenemy Noel Gallagher does background vocals on “We Got The Power.” In an interview with Radio X, Albarn said: “Its really great, [Noel]’s fantastic in the studio. It’s nice when you see how someone goes about their business. He’s great.”
I've been indifferent to the idea of a new Gorillaz album but that features list gets me pretty freaking excited.

Idk where to put this, but LCD at BK steel was something like this.
Us v them Daft punk Get Innocuous I can change Someone Great Home Tribulations Movement You wanted a hit Yeah New York I love you
New song New song New song
Dance Yrself clean All my friends
The new song in the middle, in particular, was mind blowing.
The new songs are called Tonight, Call Police, and American Dream, respectively. Agreed that Call Police was incredible.
Tonight sounded like a classic LCD cut. It felt a little flat and never really took off but hey, it's clear they're still working stuff out. It also includes the lyric, "I sound like my mom," so I like it already. American Dream was a really soaring rock track and holy crap I loved it. James said tonight they played it 'six times faster' than they ever have before and I hope they keep it that way. American Dream was cool and, I feel crazy saying this, had kind of a doo wop vibe? I mean it fits squarely in their song catalog but it was kinda midtempo and a little bouncey. I don't know, I'm bad at describing these things.
Anyway the show was great. Murphy was calling people out individually telling them to put their phones away. So don't even try if you are going to the next few shows. Every second of it was awesome. They sounded super tight. Home through set break especially was amazing with Yeah probably being my personal highlight. The mosh pit for Movement was super intense and fun and it of course it was so cool to see everyone go nuts for Dance Yrself Clean and All My Friends.
During Dance Yrself Clean they really went nuts with the lights. They would cycle through white, red, and blue on all the moving lights. They'd stay on white longer and then shuffle red and blue really quick so it made everything look a 3D comic book. It was SO cool.
I'm super jealous of everyone going to these LCD shows. When I saw the dates my heart dropped because of course they're all when I have to work and can't take the time off because schedule is already set.
