For the longest time Future didn't make sense to me either, that is until I heard his hook on Vince Staples Senorita which is fire. Then it all just started to make sense.
I think what ultimately did it for me is blasting DS2 in a car full of friends while bar hopping around Detroit. It's just great party music even though it can be a little dark.
Future has grown on me. He makes fun music, and usually has a handful of quality tracks every time he releases something, but he's being over inflated as one of Hip Hop's current BEST, and he's just not even close to being in the discussion. His albums are redundant and his flow is weak.

This month will be between DIIV, Kanye, AnCo, and Yuck for me... AnCo or Kanye will certainly win the month but idk that I'll vote for either. I've heard the first half of Pablo is amazing but it really drops off in the second half (haven't listened yet thought)
DIIV is good, and I'm sure AnCo will be solid, but come on now. It's Kanye.
I'm just not a fan of that logic. Sonically, TLOP is great, but I don't think it's cohesive as an album. I also think it's pretty shotty at different times where the album feels rushed. Yeah, I understand how people say, "well that's just part of the allure of the album," but I disagree. I don't feel like I need to vote for Kanye just because it's Kanye.

I can't see myself casting my vote for anything besides AnCo at this point. TLOP is great, but Painting With is, IMO, their best album since 2009, and that's with the lower quality leak so I can only imagine how much I'll love it in HQ. Probably going to be one of my top albums of the year.

I'm really excited to hear the new AnCo if its a step back from the craziness of Centipede. That album was too wacky for me to love. But I'm saving my ears for HQ.
But 17 new Kanye songs are almost definitely gonna win for me(minus the intermission phone call). Even the 17 worst Kanye songs collected would have a fighting chance. Obviously I'm biased though.

I'm not someone who ever downloads leaks because the three times I've tried to do that in the past five years, they were all viruses. I've accepted my lacking in skills at downloading leaked files and refuse to ever try again.
With that being said, what is your opinion on the album as far as the style? What makes it good to you? I've heard that the songs are all high energy and on the shorter side. I've also read that many of the songs it is Avey and Panda singing either in harmony, at the same time, and/or in their call and respond form. Are all songs like this, or are there some strictly Panda and strictly Avey songs? I love Avey, but my favorite AnCo tracks are always either harmonic/call and respond or straight up Panda songs. Any feedback is appreciated!
Edit: I'll add that I really like both of the singles, especially Lying in the Grass

It's mostly Avey and Panda I'm pretty sure, lots of times in harmony but there is also a lot the call and respond form (which I'm also a big fan of). To me, this album sounds like a really good combination of Merriweather Post Pavilion and Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper. Definitely lots of Panda Bear influence in this one, and yes they are very very energetic songs. There's also a lot of sampling this time around, another element that I really enjoy. I think a lot of the album has the same kind of energy that can be heard in Lying in the Grass and just going by what you said, I think you will probably really like it!

Oh fuck, as if my antipication wasn't high enough already!

And if you haven't heard the new single yet, they released Golden Gal a few hours ago. I just replayed in about four times. It reminds me a little more of Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks in a way. I can definitely notice and appreciate how this song, and possibly Lying in the Grass, are both Avey and Panda singing at the exact same time. It sounds sort of like harmonizing and sort of like a hybrid voice. Like a third person who sounds like both of them at the same time.

Dammit, I've loved everything I've seen from this album, so far. That being said, still going to wait for a high quality listen instead of the leak.
I need help this month. I don't like Kanye or AC. Diiv is good but not aotm good. I was ready to vote for Post Pop Depression, but I just found out that comes out next month. What should I listen to?

Post Pop Depression is surprisingly good. Like I didn't expect to like it really, but it's pretty fun.
Big Black Coat by Junior Boys is a pretty fun album. And Yuck has one coming out next week.

Wild Nothing is coming out this Friday I believe. I'm pretty pumped.

King - We Are King Freakwater - Scheherazade
That said, I'm leaning towards Kanye but the King record is awesome.

Give Lucinda Williams - The Ghosts Of Highway 20 a shot.
