Holy God. That's a pretty amazing start. I'm holding out for another lineup but that $69 price tag is tempting.
$149 for VIP is also a crazy deal. There's a tent with free beer during happy hour at Washiongton Park, you get to skip the lines at all the venues, and you get a special viewing areal for the main stage

Recently spent a weekend in Cinci and had a blast. Definitely planning to come to this and may spring for VIP. I feel like I could easily drink $80 worth of free beer to make it worth the offset.

If you aren't familiar with MPMF or haven't had a chance to go, I highly suggest it. They usually have great final lineups and a unique experience being able to walk all around OTR, seeing bands play in the street, in the park, or inside a bar or brewery, on top of the great value. Upset I am moving out of Cinci.

I live in Columbus, and my wife and I are heading down to this on Saturday for the day/night of music. For me, Ride is a must see. I saw - and loved - their set during the first weekend of Coachella earlier this year. They create an epic wall of sound.

I have a lot of work to do and got a free wristband, so I'll be there sporadically. Definitely Saturday night for Ride->Sylvan Esso and Sunday for my friends' band Orchards.

Purity Ring was pretty meh last night IMO. I really only know the song Fireshrine by them and assumed I would like the rest of their music live. I was wrong. They are one step removed from being cheese EDM. Excited about Ride and Sylvan Esso today. Might even try to catch the end of Strand of Oaks
EDIT: Just realized RIDE plays in 5 minutes. Guess I'm missing them. Oops.

Upset I missed Ride but was able to split sets perfectly and enjoyed both Sylvan Esso and Strand of Oaks. Walked all the way to the Taft to see Zola Jesus and was pretty disappointed, boring set.

What I've taken away from the first two days...
Purity Ring was fun, but they kinda have the Mumford syndrome of everything sounding similar. Still had a good time though. Heartless Bastards really surprised me. I haven't been a huge fan other their studio stuff but man they kicked some serious ass. Dawg Yawp was my favorite band from Friday.
I'm not super familiar with Ride but I still enjoyed their set. Nothing special though. Ryley Walker was amazing! They really impressed me. It killed me that I had to leave their set a little early but it had to be done. Holy shit Sylvan Esso was fantastic! By far the best show I've seen in the first two days. Followed Sylvan Esso with The Almighty Get Down. They had the whole room dancing. What a fun show.
Been having a blast walking around OTR. I only wish that the crowds would stop fucking talking! Cincinnati SHUT THE FUCK UP! The talking during shows has been ridiculous.
Really looking forward to Pokey Lafarge and Tune Yards tonight!

I might need to try to do all three days of this next year. My wife and I only came down for Saturday, but we had a great time. First, I thought Washington Park was a nice setting for the non-spread-out shows. Seeing the old music hall in the background made for a nice panorama. Being from Lancaster and Columbus, I had no idea that place existed. As for the shows, we really enjoyed Caspian into Ride. That scheduling, for me, was perfect. Both bands strive to create soundscapes, and I was, going in, a huge fan of Ride so I was predetermined to like them - a lot. After leaving the park we walked a few blocks and caught Aero Flynn and Sylvan Esso. That marked our fourth time this year seeing Sylvan Esso, so we knew what we were going to get. Considering what they are, a singer and a lone beat maker, I think they put on an upbeat, fun show. The highlight of the whole day/night for me occurred after we left Sylvan Esso. My wife wanted to go back to the hotel, and I dutifully followed, kinda half complaining. It worked out in the end, though, because Ride was hanging out in our hotel bar, and I got to tell all the guys how big of an influence albums like Nowhere and Leave Them All Behind had on me. They were so gracious and nice - and trust me, I was a little out of sorts/abstracted. Andy and Mark, the two singers/guitarists, even posed for a picture with me. I think I posted on Facebook it was one of the most incredible nights of my life, and even days later I feel like I'm floating on air. It's so neat to be able to meet people you held in such high regard when you were younger, and they don't end up letting you down by being dismissive or jerks. Trust me, I'm smiling right now as I type still reliving the memory.

Music Hall is amazing. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend catching the CSO or Pops there.

Outstanding festival. This was my first MidPoint experience, and I will aboslutely be returning. Whoever curated this lineup needs to be commended. Every band i saw was tremendous. I left the Bully show wanting to follow them around the country--they're THAT good. Picking highlights is tough, becasue everyone I saw was good (except Purity Ring, who I thought was really run-of-the-mill), but I'll give it a shot.
MY FAVORITE SHOWS: Bully Moon Duo Sylvan Esso Caspian Aero Flynn Lydia Loveless All Them Witches NO/NO
Worth mentioning: Cool band called Moira played a pop-up show at Black Plastic Records on Sunday evening. Really intimate and fun experience; I'll be seeing them again for sure.
Wonderful fest in a cool city. A+
*If anyone from MidPoint reads this, add some coffee tents next year. I've found coffee is a borderline necessity on Sundays of a 3 day fest.
