Carrying on, these are among some of the articles I been reading tonight. One or two of the sources are kinda shitty, but still provide something interesting worth looking at (even if it's pictures or retweets).

I live in Baltimore and have heard things for both sides but I agree that the police and people in power have created a big blunder in all of this.
I will have to read some of those articles after work. Its really sad how this is all going down and how the national media is characterizing everuthing that's happening. The thing for me is, I feel better seeing stuff like this because it shows people are getting fed up, just aren't expressing it in the proper manner.

Agreed. Standard though. It's hard to completely grasp how off the reporting typically is in events like this until you're actually present for the reality of the situation.
As far as this showing people are getting fed up and not expressing it in the proper manner, I think you're lumping together two separate groups, as the media have done, which is truly doing an injustice to the majority of peaceful protesters.
For the most part, the people who are being violent are likely not truly invested in the matter at hand. These are a few opportunists who hijack the cause for their own enjoyment. And by doing so they allow the media to make grand, sweeping generalizations about the "thuggery" and motivations of the protesters as a whole.

I wasn't lumping two groups together, I am specifically talking about the ones doing violent acts when I say they are not expressing in the proper manner.
The people out there protesting and marching and still are doing so all through this week in the streets of downtown Baltimore. Those people should be allowed to protest. But those people that were throwing bricks, rocks and metal park benches at the cops starting last Saturday night, those people should have been arrested right then and there. Instead, the cops were told to stand down and use no force or make any arrests. This went on for hours. So it really doesn't surprise me with what happened the following Monday with the robbing of the mall and the local stores like it was hurricane katrina, or the 150+ fires created and cars burned.
You have to take into consideration why these people would act in such a way. There is a reason this type of thing didn't happen where I live in Baltimore county. The quality of life for the majority of people in the city is much lower. There is much less monetary means to go find legal outlets to express or find enjoyment. Not to mention the limited space for any activity for these people.
Now I won't go on a super big rant about this but a lot of this turmoil I am seeing with the cops and the people regard the war on drugs that has created a situation for the cops where it is "us vs the population" because these people that are addicted to drugs that have what I call a medical problem, are getting turned into people with a criminal problem. And anyone on the street has the chance to be doing or having drugs on their person. Not to mention the type of profiling that gets done against these people in the city where the drug situation is so bad. This has a far reaching monetary gain by corporations and big business people, a good example of this are private prisons. If you don't know what they are than look it up.
Getting back to things, these kids in the city that really ignited the outbreak on Monday, they saw what happened over the weekend with select people being belligerent and crossing protesting boundrys not get reprimanded, they saw the cops getting pushed around and they acted in ways they were familiar. The cops were outnumbered and there was no way for them to handle anywhere the amount of activity that was going on. I put it on the mayor and governor for not handling things swiftly enough. They had warning signs, tip offs for a lot of these organized events that were not peaceful protests and I don't feel they acted quickly, or treated it serious enough initially and that is why things tumbled out of control the way things have here.

I actually agree with a lot of what you say here. I just disagree with the narrow characterization of the destruction of private property as being something that is inherently unforgivable here.
Thing is, I heard so many stories of local family owned stores that either had to close down for the week or got destroyed. These people destroying are hurting their own communities, its not like they went and destroyed nothing but corporate facilities. Now all these people out of work or struggling now in our very own city. The biggest shoe store downtown is a family owned one at the mall that got raided. They had every single item in the store taken. The cops were so busy with all the school kids and riots/fires that the mall sat there for 8 full hours before cops showed up (since theft goes down low on the priority list). Another example was the half constructed, multi million dollar senior center I am sure most of you saw burn on the news Monday night.
There will be times where it is necessary for the population to exert force but I don't feel it served a beneficial purpose to the people living in Baltimore by destroying their community.

I'm serious here. Except for a few isolated acts of violence, I struggle to see any such "thuggery."
Also it's weird that you're commenting on how "lame" this "form" is when you've only been here for 4 months and probably haven't really ever interacted with me before.
As far as the "thuggery" comment, that was pretty much my point. So I'm not totally sure what you're trying to argue there.
As far as me only being here for 4 months, oh man, you're right! To be honest though, that's pretty irrelevant to whether or not this "form" is "lame" whether I have "interacted" with "you" "before" or "not."

As bad as the riots have been, they are nothing compared to how barbaric racist police have been to minorities since the U.S.was founded. Racism fucking sucks!
There are alot of issues that need to be addressed in this country but until the effected can gather their thoughts and direct this emotion into a positive message and subsequent goals for progress nothing will happen. Its occupy wall street with violence so its being portrayed even worse.

I just watched a video on facebook thats main premise is you're more likely to be murdered or raped or killed in a car accident than to be the victim of a cop using excessive force. Their sources were reported incidents of police brutality. Facebook fucking sucks.
And shes only been on the job for four months. Her whole campaign was based on holding police more accountable though. I can imagine this will make her job incredibly difficult in the future so kudos for sticking with it.
