Last night was the fire and smoke warning, and we just got the mudslide warning for tonight. Fun times.
Are you in SB? My cousin sent me a photo of the fires yesterday. Crazy stuff.
The bushfires here are still burning. And it rained so hard yesterday that it actually flooded our bedroom for a few mins while we had to grab towels and stop the leaking. Scary shit.

Yup, I’m in SB. Fires were close to us, but luckily didn’t have to evacuate. It was scary though.
Not so much “bitching”, but celebrating. It is thundering and lightening and RAINING! Hoping this lasts. And hoping it spreads to areas that need it much more than where we are. We desperately need some widespread, long-lasting rain!
Oh, and apparently we have cyclones (what they call hurricanes down here) heading our way too. Which is expected to cause flooding. We just can’t win.
(eta: “our way” as in Australia. This says it’s in WA which is the other side of the country. I saw one article predicting a cyclone in NSW, but this doesn’t seem to mention that. We are fine)
All the smoke from Colorado’s wildfires is killing me! My allergies haven’t been this bad in years, and I can’t see further than a couple miles with how thick it is.
I think that Marco is going to give us some decent wind and decent rain. Probably starting tomorrow and going on through Tues morning. Some areas might lose power, obviously some neighborhoods will get some flooding that will recede in a few hours. Annoying, but manageable.
But Laura looks like she might be about put the hurting on us starting Wed morning.
We are going to ride it out with Marco, and looking likely we might evacuate on Tuesday for Laura.

We're definitely riding out. I already prepped the backyard for flooding to the best I can. It's going to be a wet week. I'm trying to get all my mask orders done today, just in case.
Latest thing I saw about Marco is that the rain might sorta shear off and hit Bama and Mississippi while the winds ride along the coast toward Texas, so hopefully it won't hit any one place too hard. Louisiana is supposed to see the brunt of the storm surge, though.

Laura is an issue.
Yeah the weather today has been pretty beautiful all day so far. I guess maybe it'll be windier or something tonight. But for sure, Laura is what we need to be worried about.
I feel guilty cuz part of me was curious to see what the baby would have looked like if Marco and Laura had actually fucked. I always feel guilty during hurricanes. Literally nothing happened to my street during Harvey.

I'm not gonna like, I wanted fujiwhara also, but mostly so I could post memes calling Godzilla to save us.
No, I think we'll be okay. We're just west of I45 in League City. We're staying in. Made the call this morning to not board up windows and just get all my outdoor stuff in the garage.

Speaking of boarding windows, I was just thinking about the fact I haven't done that since 2004 when I moved out the historic area. I didn't even board up for Katrina (not that it would have helped).

I lived in League City as a kid. Hopefully we in the Houston area are far enough west that it won't be an issue there.
Storm surge going that far inland is mind boggling. Sounds like entire towns might get wiped out tonight.
Also, gas prices are gonna get jacked up soon. There's a lot of refineries and infrastructure in that area.
Speaking of sea walls, Providence got hit by a Cat 3 in September 1938. Most of downtown was flooded when surge pushed up Narragansett Bay into the city. They built a hurricane barrier after that, so it hopefully doesn't happen again. It might be in Houston's best interest to be proactive, but then again Houston is also a lot bigger.
Also been extremely hard for restoration crews to find lodging. My brother who also works in electric hasnt been able to find anything east of lafayette until Mississippi. And nothing west of Beaumont until Orange Houston. He's had to crash at my place in Houston a few nights now to go to jobs in Beaumont, Orange, and Port Arthur.
