About Caribou, aka Dan Snaith, is an electronic act from Dundas, Ontario, Canada. Starting in the early 2000's, under the name Manitoba, Dan Snaith released two albums. The first was Start Breaking My Heart in 2001, the second being Up In Flames in 2003. A year later as the result of a lawsuit for trademark infringement, Snaith changed his name from Manitoba to Caribou. His first release under the new name and his first with Merge Records, Andorra, earned him his first award in 2008, the Polaris Music Award (it's a Canada thing). After the release of Swim and touring with Radiohead, Snaith took a four year break from Caribou and performed as his "alter ego", Daphni. He describes Daphni as something he is proud of, but says Caribou is "much more labored-over and meticulous. It’s supposed to represent more of everything I’m into and everything I’m doing." During his time performing as Daphni, Snaith said the first snippets of Our Love started forming in his head in 2011 or 2012, but he didn't really focus on the new album until a little over a year before the album's release. That is when he said the album started coming together and became something that was deeply integrated with his personal life. A theme that carried over due to fan response to Swim. Snaith continues to perform as Daphni, even having performed at the same festival under both names, but says that each moniker carries a distinct musical identity.

Interesting Facts *Has a doctoral degree in Mathematics *Changed his name from Manitoba to Caribou after being sued by a guy who's nickname was "Handsome Dick." Snaith said the lawsuit was "like The Smiths suing John Smith or something". (The guy's full name is Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba.)
He's a can't miss. His show back in November was the best show I've ever seen
I've never seen him live. He's in my top 3-5 most anticipated acts.
Also, I typo'd in my "about" part.. Andorra is his second release as Caribou & first with Merge records. I'll edit when I'm back on my laptop agian, but it may be a couple of days.
