Loving watching Michigan State fans meltdown over Dantonio to SC rumors.
Do you think there is any chance that he would make that move?
Btw, I am torn. On one hand, strengthening a division rival isn't good for Tennessee. On the other, the potential for Clemson to lose games to SC makes me think about Sang's sweet delicious tears.
Loving watching Michigan State fans meltdown over Dantonio to SC rumors.
Is there any validity to that possibility? I know he has a connection to the university, but Michigan State seems like an alright gig.
He did play there, but I think it's mostly trolling. He had the good fortune of making MSU good during a time when the Big 10 was unprecedentedly bad. Now that the Big Ten is righting the ship he could realize that his stock will never be higher, but I doubt that's his thinking

He's 60 years old and I think the argument could be made that MSU is just as good a job as South Carolina in many respects. I don't think he goes, but I'm a jaded Pitt fan who's afraid of who MSU would want to hire...

Who else’s name would pop up, but Mark Dantonio’s? No surprise here. One of the top-three or four head coaches in college football being targeted by an alma mater. However, South Carolina hasn’t even released a list of coaches yet, so the fact that his name has come up is laughable.
Basically, the media is just trying to create a distraction during the biggest week of the season for the head coach. [This is just funny because they should be considering #1 OSU the biggest game of the season]
He has turned Michigan State into a national powerhouse
The Spartans won’t be playing second-fiddle to any in-state team and he is basically a king in East Lansing.
Don’t believe the rumors you hear about Dantonio to MSU; this man is as loyal as loyal gets.
People were saying the same things about why Bielema would leave Wisco for Arkansas. $$$$ and proximity to talent can help change his mind quickly. The Midwest is not known for being the best area for football talent, especially in Michigan.
I think in Bielema's case he wanted to compete against the best. I think he accomplished all he thought he could do at Wisconsin and wanted to try something else.
But yes, $$$$ can change a lot of people's minds, though I think we've seen recently in college sports a tendency to think the grass is greener at home than on the other side.

He also didn't appreciate Barry Alvarez micro-managing everything.
Bielema has something like a $15mil golden parachute through 2016 and its still double digits through to 2020. Arkansas threw wal mart dollars at him.
As far as dantanio, that is just silly.
USCe should look at a rising midajor coach lile Justin Fuente, the dude at houston or even bowling Green.
I've heard the Houston guy pop up in a few speculations. Not that far fetched, although this is his first season in Houston.
Fuente's a tad more likely, I'd say.
Tom Herman at Houston is a great coach - he was my early desired leader at Pitt before he took the Houston job. He was the OC at Ohio State, coached Miller, Barrett, and Jones in the last two years to be studs, and they look lost without him this year. It's hard for me to believe the Cocks would hire him after just one year as a head coach though. I think Fuente is a lot more likely.
PJ Fleck is another guy who is going to get a big job this year, and Matt Campbell too. PJ Fleck actually seems like he'd be perfect minus a geographical fit at Southern Cal. I just hope he doesn't take the inevitable Purdue job, or the Illinois job, those are dead ends.
I don't know man. It's been rough. There isn't even one thing to complain about this season. The whole unit has just been bad. It certainly doesn't help that we lost our best pass rusher in the first quarter of the year and we have basically no depth in the secondary but my God, man. This is not fun.

Auburn has to be the most up and down program in college football.

We really are. We had a three-win season two years after winning a national championship. And even in games, we'll refuse to put teams away and always make it so stressful.

It's hard being a Tiger sometimes.
Auburning
Don't you dare.
Although I do like the turn of phrase for Auburn giving up enormous plays on third and long, "Third and Auburn."

I did some research on this topic. My conclusion: I think this roller coaster of highs and lows, is a direct side effect of an idenity crisis, Tiger vs War Eagle. Who is Auburn?

5-1 (3-0) after beating Georgia Tech in Atlanta this afternoon! Got a 2017 commit, #33 player in the nation in that class on Rivals yesterday, committed to Pitt over Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and many others. Things are happening!
