That article acts like he's still a member of Blink 182 but I thought there was a lot of articles about him leaving the band. Weird.
Yeah, he's definitely not in the band anymore. Mark and Travis basically called him an unreliable asshole, and now he's spouting off about aliens and government conspiracies. Sounds like someone familiar.

"You have to understand, I've been involved in this for a long time. I have sources from the government. I've had my phone tapped. I've done a lot of weird stuff in this industry -- people wouldn't believe me if I told them. But this is what happens when you start getting on an email chains with hundreds of scientists from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and different universities around the country, and you start outing seniors scientists from Lockheed Martin talking about the reality of this stuff, guys that hold 30 patents, guys that work underground out in the Nevada test sites in Area 51."
I guess he just doesn't give a shit what people think anymore, which I guess has its merits.
"I woke up right around three a.m. My whole body felt like it had static electricity, and I open my eyes and the fire is still going, and there's a conversation going on outside the tent. It sounded like there were about 20 people there, talking. And instantly my mind goes, OK, they're at our campsite, they're not here to hurt us, they're talking about shit, but I can't make out what they're saying. But they're working on something. Then I close my eyes and wake up, and the fire is out and I have about three hours of lost time."
it's here. friday releases are now going to be a thing. I'm going to miss it being on tuesdays - tuesday is such a lame day, there isn't much else to look forward to.

Is there much point in release days anymore? I can see why it made sense when everyone got their music through physical stores - but if a record is ready to go on a Wednesday, why wait another six days? Seems like a vestige of an industry desperately clinging to old habits.

It all boils down to pirating issues. If everyone is on the same day, then there aren't early releases for people to stream, or torrent... that is the theory at least.

I'm not quite sure I follow that logic. I guess it would prevent a little bit of piracy when a release has different dates in different countries. But I can't help but think that's such a SMALL percentage of the actual piracy going on. The majority of piracy happens when it's leaked online before ANY physical release date. The majority of albums are available weeks, or even months before the actual release date.
Aligning the day or two gap between international releases is like patching a leaky window, when the front door (and every other window) is wide open.
I guess I'm with sleepy on this, I don't see that it makes much of a difference either way.

I don't think it really does either, but I have read that piracy is among the "reasons"

My nearest independent record store has been making new releases available on the Friday before the official Tuesday release for a few years. They said it wasn't a big deal to put it on sale early when they had it in stock in the pirating age. I always looked forward to getting a jump on owning the physical release when a record I was highly anticipating came out. This official change will probably only deter a fraction of a percentage from getting a download illegally and add about the same to buyers.
looks like mumford's new album will be released on may 3rd - so we'll be getting new material for their headlining set
"The band's third album will be released on May 4 through Gentlemen of the Road/Island Records and is preceded by a new single, Believe, on April 27. 'Wilder Mind' was recorded at Air Studios, London and produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, HAIM, Florence & The Machine). A number of the new songs were written at Aaron Dessner of The National's garage studios in Brooklyn, New York."
a little bit. but if it makes you feel better, one of my best guy friends texted me today and said, "I finally listened to the alabama shakes and they are amazing" so you could be much further behind...

They say they're not going for a stadium-rock type, but their last two albums are filled with "stadium-rock, but with banjos" songs.
Besides that, I'm genuinely interested, if only to see where they take this.
They've done these kinds of shows before. I think it's a great way to get a bunch of acts together for a special concert. One day I'll make it to one of these shows.

I was really confused by this at first. then I realized that fortyfive33 was talking about the new album, and you were talking about the gentleman of the road shows...
