I did a search and didnt come up with much, but is it possible to take the greyhound to the festival? My concern is how long is the walk from the station? I really cant imagine it being much fun to trek too far with my camping gear on my back too. I am coming to the festival solo, and although I probably could swing a plane ticket, I would rather not. Anyone have some experince in this?

I am SO SORRY about posting in the wrong forum I am no "forum rookie" so I know that drives people who are regular posters nuts. Thanks so much for the answer though, 30 minutes is no huge deal, but when you add the walk from the gates to the camping sites...well, that may be a different story. Once again, thanks for the answer!

It was pretty far i think. We had a friend who came down via the greyhound to meet us there and we must have walked 45 minutes from our campsite (bfe area, close to vip though) just out to the road near the gas station. She ended up riding down to the gas station in a random van that picked her up. If you are ok with walking, the greyhound won't be that bad. There were about 30 people walking from that direction so at least you'd have company.

I also am planning on Greyhounding it up on my way to Bonnaroo, and I for one am kind of looking forward to not having to spend any time stuck in traffic, waiting to get in.
it sounds a bit rough, to me. I can never get sleep on Greyhounds. If you have no Ipod or portable CD player, etc, you risk suffering through the cries of children, or incesent blabbering on topics you don't care for at all. To me, this seems like a harsh journey to make it to the promise land, but you have to do what you gotta do, right?.. and it is The Promiseland afterall. Who knows, maybe by the time you get to the station, you'll actually be ready to stretch your legs and hit up that 45 minute walk, but i was thinking it might not be that hard to hitch a random ride, like monkeystuff's friend did. Yea I was kinda thinkin it was gonna be rough. Even if it is only 30 minutes or so away from the gates, the gates are still probably an hour or so away from the actual campsite. Thats an hour and a half walk thru the hot TN sun. That, plus the logistics of bringing a cooler with me (which will have to be checked) and beer. I assume the gas station will have ice, and greyhound seems ok w/the beer as long as its not an open container. I will definately need to buy a cooler with wheels though, and even then....
If thats what I gotta do its what I gotta do. Its not really the walk to the festival that has me concerned, its the walk from...after 4 days in a sleep deprived and less then sober state. I may try hitching a ride, but thats scary for a female. Here hoping I can find someone coming from Charlotte NC who wouldnt mind another in the car.
greyhounds are brutal, try to find someone to hitch a ride with on the boards maybe and just drop the money for the greyhound ticket on helping with gas etc., hitching a ride is a little scary but i don't think you would have to worry as long as you jumped in with some fellow bonnarooers.

Yea its really only like a 6-7 hour drive from where I am. The $90 I was gonna spend on the greyhound should pay for almost all of the gas, so hopefully I can find someone. I've had to go greyhound before and didnt really enjoy it at all. But like I said, I will do what I gotta do to go to Roo.

Actually as luck would have it...it seems I don't have to take the Greyhound. I wrote down my request and was going to put it in the request folder at work, and notice that someone else was requesting in June. I pulled it out, and my freind in another department is requesting the exact same days. I called, and sure enough she is headed to 'Roo. So now I have a ride! See ya'll at the 'Roo!
Do not take greyhound! It's a torture ride! Sometimes plane tickets are cheaper than greyhound. I was on one once and drug-sniffing dogs came on board and hijacked us for over an hour. Someone got arrested. They don't respect the passengers, so if you respect yourself, find a better ride.
Whoever said it's a one hour walk from the gates to the campsites is wrong. It is probably a 20 minute walk from the gate near the highway to tent only camping. No more than 30 minutes.
i just convinced my friend who lives in chicago to go to roo but i live in louisiana and he is takin the bus... he has no idea wat hes doin... haha i dont know how much fun hes gunna have hopefully i can convince however im riding with to pick him up... from the bus station
this is going to be a silly adventure its my first roo his first roo and i dont even know how im getting there everyone keeps telling me its to early to make plans but i cant help it im exited!
