I kept meaning to listen to Julio bashmore but kept forgetting.
I love the instrumentation on the destroyer album, but his voice isn't pleasant to me, and I can't listen for long.
What other Destroyer albums have you listened to?
Alternatively, what New Pornographers or Swan Lake albums have you listened to?
i have really only listened to the most recent EP (spanish songs?) and the LP before that.
I really like the new pornographers, got into them in college when twin cinema came out.
Only swan lake I'm familiar with is Tchaikovsky.
It isn't even entirely his voice; just on this album, paired with the instrumentation, is jarring to me. I like the song, and when the singing kicks in it isn't what I would expect, sonically. And it isn't even on all the tracks (but many of them). I dunno, sometimes when he would start singing it would just take me out of it. I honestly really loved almost everything else a bout it, but the way he sings on the album I just couldn't get over. I didn't even feel this way about the other stuff of his i listened to before this (granted, I only gave them a few spins).
I'm only just starting this live Animal Collective album and I'm blown away
Edit: it was amazing to me last night while very drunk and high, and it was still totally beautiful awake and sober this morning. It's the kind of album you lay in bed in the dark with your eyes closed, listen to with headphones, and meditate. You can also listen to it loud and dance. Much better than I expected
