Dr. Dre is gonna be tough to top this month. What about this Deerhunter everyone keeps talking about...?
The track "genocide" is incredible. I've listened to that thing like 6 times in the last 24 hours, and I never repeat listen to single tracks like that.
I'm in love with the fact that Pitchfork gave that new Night Beds a 3.2 rating. It's just a reminder that I can't stand Ian Cohen as a reviewer.
It's pretty neck and neck with Chelsea Wolfe and that Night Beds album. I'm hoping All Dogs has the new album when I see them next week so that I'll have that a few extra days before my vote.
Update (8/15, 6:59 p.m.): Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox will host a two-hour radio show on Atlanta's AM 1690 on Sunday, August 16 at 11 p.m. EST, Consequence of Sound reports. The program will also stream live on Deerhunter's website, which currently features the gif of Cox transforming into a dog.

My buddy works at that radio station. They have actually been trying to put this together on an almost daily basis for 6 weeks. Bradford has proven to be extremely difficult to work with and has repeatedly delayed it. I know that the initial plan was to release the whole album in July. I wonder if that October 16 release date is just for the vinyl LP and the digital release will be some time soon.
Right now, Frank Turner's album Positive Songs for Negative People is winning it for me. Really fun, celebration-type punk album. Need to listen to the new Dre more before I form a strong opinion on it.
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me at this point. The countdown could very well be for a music video.
We got a music video.
This band is so good, it's stupid.
I love how uncomfortable Bradford is making me during this video. I also love this new direction of the band. Monomania was good, but I wasn't a huge fan of that particular style change.
They may never come out with another Microcastle or Halcyon Digest, but I'm digging this new song.
