Man this month is hard. So many great albums. But now that I've heard all of them and really think about it, none of these bands have put out their best album. Except maybe Sufjan? Who I haven't listened to enough in the past. All of them have been really good, but I really can't decide which is best.
If we hadn't already voted for Bjork in Jan. I would vote her over everything this month (since this month is when the album was actually released). Bjork still leads for aoty.
I haven't heard Action Bronson, Earl or Death Grips yet.
My wife's car doesn't have an aux jack for my iPod. I have to make cd's for us to listen to on the drive to Tennessee this weekend. I just made 35 from records coming out this month. So many got damn albums could/should win. I don't even know what I'm voting for.

haha welcome to my life. I still listen to cd's in the car. I've burned so many cd's this month. But 35 is ridiculous.

I love how I am treating my album of the month pick this month with as much as importance of that of naming a child or choosing a career path or picking a life partner. As if Laura and Kendrick would personally be offended if I pick Sufjan... or would even know. Ha
Im off to listen to it again, but after 2 listens, Im completely underwhelmed by the new Kendrick. It has its high points, just nothing that blew me away. Maybe my expectations were too high
TPAB had to grow on me - I liked a few songs on the first 4-5 listens. By the 10th listen, I was sold. It's an outstanding album but definitely has to grow on a person. That's a good thing, though. Most albums that are great on the first cycle are, in reality, usually kind of basic and get tired after repeated listens. I had rather have an album grow on me and catch all of the great subtle touches the artist/producer slipped into the album that makes it one of those that stands the test of time.

When do you find the time to listen to that 10 times, and a bunch of other stuff too?

I do about 3 miles/day on the treadmill and use most of that time listening to new music... that and driving to/from work. I am not a big podcast/radio kinda guy.
Just stuff I've picked up - Courtney Barnett - Brandi Carlile - Kendrick Lamar
Sorta unfair to compare across wildly different genres. I'm going based on how often I replay. The new Courtney Barnett album is a real winner. I get bummed when it ends.
Insane month for new releases. My contenders are Sufjan, Courtney Barnett, Kendrick, Earl, Lightning Bolt, Tobias Jesso Jr., Laura Marling, and Houndmouth. I am leaning toward Barnett now, but I really hope that people give Marling a couple of serious listens. Gets better with each listen.

Do we just state our vote here? I haven't voted in previous months for whatever reason
To add to what other people are saying, you should put the band and album title on there as well, especially if you're the first person to have posted it, just to be nice to Cokes. Sometimes people give honorable mentions for albums that were worthy but didn't quite make the cut and explains why they chose the album they did. The first thing I said presumably doesn't apply to you because I think everyone knows you're voting for Carrie & Lowell.
Since there hasn't been a tally I'm moving this to a newer page to make it easier on Cokes. This is still undoubtably my favorite album of the month, and it's honestly my favorite album since Sunbather. Even though it's short I think Asunder, Sweet and Other distress is really great. The Powers that B is probably my second favorite Death Grips album too. Such a great month of music. 2. Godspeed You! Black Emperor 3. Death Grips 4. Liturgy 5. Earl Sweatshirt 6. Courtney Barnett
