Note: Clue remained unsolved until the lineup came out.
Radio clue: "Racecar" Could be a hint that a palindrome is involved.
Snapchat audio: Little Drummer Boy by Mannheim Steamroller (There is some debate on if the music matters or not)
Top guesses so far (Based on likes and opinions expressed)
Dale Earnhardt JR. JR.:
-- The octopus has 8 tentacles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove #8, and the radio clue was "race car." " -- Little Drummer Boy could be hinting towards Jr. -- From Detroit, the motor city.
Deadmau5:
-- Joel is a huge car fanatic, participated in Gumball3000 this year. He also sponsors a F1 driver. -- Has a large Chtulla tatoo on his upper arm. -- Lovecraft inspired songs: "Chtulla Sleeps" and "Rlyeh's Lament." -- Him and his fiance planned a Cthulhu themed "underwater" wedding. Inspired by HP Lovecraft. -- Has a new setup and tour coming next year but it was pointed out that it's 360 -- "Turbo Cartpig Racer" features race car samples.
Dopapod:
-- Their name seems to be a play on the word octopod. -- L-Dopa (L-dihydroxyphenylalanine) is used as a substrate in ink production and serves other functions for Octopi. -- Band name is a palindrome. -- All of their studio album names are palindromes. -- Their live album "I Saw Live Dopapod Evil was I" is a palindrome. -- The album "Never Odd or Even(2014)" has a track called "Sleeping Giant" with several possible Cthulhu reverences. -- That same album's cover has a Lovecraftian like creature emerging out of the side of a mountain, into the sea. The monster is wrapped in it's own tentacles. Raising from it's sleep in the lost city like Cthulhu? Yes, these last two are really reaching even more then the rest. Boner wanted to explore it. Pic below.
-- Mark's trademark Octopus design on his bass. (It's also his company logo and on shirt designs.) -- Two members were in a side project called Box Car Racer. -- The little drummer boy could refer to Travis.
Ringo Starr:
-- Wrote and sang Octopus' Garden. -- Could tie in with the Little Drummer Boy music. Being a well-known drummer, etc. -- He sold an ultra rare touring car in 2013, so he apparently owns racing cars.
They Might Be Giants:
-- octopuses can be, and are often referred to as giant. TMBG has a song "I Palindrome I", which as pointed out, racecar is a palindrome. -- TMBG's tour ends in late May and they aren't playing Nashville or Atlanta. -- An album cover has a squid attacking a whale. Talk that a Bonnaroo intern might not know the difference.
Other guesses that could use more thought(or not):
Modest Mouse: Album called "Sad Sappy Sucker." It includes the track, "Race Car Grin You Ain't No Landmark."
A-Ha: It's a palindrome. They are Norwegian and the kraken (Giant Octopus) is said to live off of the coast there.
Soundgarden: Band has had eight members. Has an EP with a palindrome. Octopus' garden.
Primus: "Jerry was a Race Car Driver" from the album Sailing on the Seas of Cheese. Also, Primus sucks.

Fry: It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?
That makes me think the name of the band is a Palindrome
I was thinking the same thing.
Edit: Or that a popular song of theirs is a palindrome.

I made my mom listen to the music on the Bonnaroosnaps story, and she said it kind of sounded like Drummer Boy. I immediately thought Ringo Starr. He also sang Octopus's Garden while still in the Beatles. What do you guys think?
2017: 2/24 Twenty One Pilots 4/1 Radiohead 6/7 Glass Animals 9/10 Modest Mouse 9/21 Arcade Fire 9/29 Kings of Leon 10/3 Foster the People 10/17 The xx 10/22 LCD Soundsystem 11/8 Bon Iver

Could mean a drummer that is prominent/well-known in the band, or perhaps... Meh I have no idea really
Matt Camerons the touring drummer for Soundgarden and is obviously a pretty famous drummer from being in Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. Definitely not obvious as there are much more famous drummers but continues to work my Soundgarden theory.
“Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.” - Hunter Thompson
ABBAs a clear connection but at the same time Im pretty sure they are on like a Smiths of Guns N Roses level in terms of having 0 chance of reuniting. Maybe a band with a famous drummer thats covered ABBA?
Blink-182 "Mark's logo is an octopus. Little drummer boy playing in the background is obvs Travis. And the other clue was racecar, and Tom and Travis were in the band boxcar racer" Via reddit

Ringo would be great, but where's the racecar connection?
This is what I got when I looked up Ringo Starr and cars. Apparently he sold an ultra rare touring car in 2013, so he apparently owns racing cars. Less relevant, but worth mentioning, there is apparently also a seat-mount for Ipads called the Ring-O. That one's a stretch, but still...
