I'd be scared of the Kings and Preds in the west. Montreal and Detroit scare me for the east.
The wings play a similar style to that of the habs, where its a total team effort offensively and defensively. The difference is the wings are awful at 5 on 5 and are superb on the PP. You gotta be able to score 5 on 5 in the playoffs. I also have never had much faith in Howard, and Mrazek isn't quite there yet.(tho he's showinv that he is the future of the wings crease). I just don't think the wings have it, especially when they wind up playing the Habs or Tampa in the first round. People should be fearing Tampa more.
Don't get me wrong, the Preds are really good, i just think that they're hitting their stride way too soon. Thats why I'm not really worried about the Hawks right now. Last year a 5 seed faced a 6 seed in the SCF, the top seeds dont always win in hockey. The hawks did it two years ago but it was a shortened season. I can just see the Preds facing a hot team in the first or second round and getting upset. The only thing that worries me about the Hawks is their defensive play. Everybody wants to blame the goalkeeping but thats not the biggest problem that i see. Not to mention the fact that they havent really been lighting up the scoreboard like they're capable of.
The only teams that worry me in the east are Tampa and NYR. And don't be so quick to count out the Preds. They're for real this time. Ducks Kings Blues and Preds in the west, Tampa Habs Rangers and Islanders in the east

Holtby is having a quietly phenomenal year, and the team has been playing a great 2 way system, opposed to the run and gun of recent memory. But it's all gonna rely on Ovi, as it's still a fairly young team. I don't think the caps could take the Rangers, but if they get the Islanders first round, anything can happen.
The Rangers have a phenomenal D core, a world class goalie, and a reborn Rick Nash playing the season of his career, Marty St Louis itching for one last crack at the cup, and a supporting cast of Big Fast forwards who will crash your goalie and take him out in the first game of the series, taking the teams heart out of it early, leaving the empty shell of what's left of a squad to fight off the dieing of the light in what inevitably will become the final game of a season that "could have been".
I hate hating Chris Krieder, because he is a great player, but seriously, I hope he dies in a fire.

Most of this is correct. And even though, yeah, it all goes through Ovie, like everyone else you left out the real quiet star for the Caps - Nicky Backstrom.

I would be interested to see how well Ovi would do without him, and vice versa. I'd say Backstrom would be a 60 point guy, and ovi never sees 50 goals again.

You're probably right. But that's my point - look at Backstrom's faceoff win percentage or puck handling or assist work or plus/minus ice or any other stat and he's as good as anyone in the league but no one ever talks about him because he's not Crosby or Kane or Ovie etc.

He's the Pippen to Ovi's Jordan. I'm with Ya there. It's like how Bergeron gets all the recognition for being an amazing 2 way player, but if you look at Tomas Plekanec's stats over the last 4 years, he's right there with him. A very under rated player when it comes to shutting down the Crosbys and Ovi's of the league.

If anyone ever wants to know what it's like being a sports fan from Chicago, just ask someone to kick you in the nuts on average of once per month. It just so happened that i got two nut shots out of the way in one day so I' should be ok for a few months at least.

yeah, fuck the Hawks! I needed you to lose today!!! If the panthers can squeeze into the playoffs and push Bodton out, I would be soooooo happy. The Panthers have a decent enough team, and Loulongo is having s good season, and add Jagr to the mix, I just really think they can and will bump out the Bruins. Would make a much easier 1st round for the habs.
Is it too late to take back my NY Rangers comment? 8-0-2 in last ten.
If we keep Zuccarello then threat for finals. If not strongly depends on what comes back and how they fit. Nobody on the roster can replace what he does, shit most of the league can't

yeah, but I think they'll be fine without him. Question is, go they think future, or go all in now and keep him. It's a tough call, one I'm not sure there's a right answer for. I don't think they'll be able to sign him so chances are he'll walk

He might not be scoring as much as last year but he still does everything well. He had the highest percentage of 50/50 pucks won in the league last season.
Very hard decision as the way I see it is there is enough cap space for him or Stephan seeing as how Staal didn't get traded to Carolina lol. Trading Callahan worked last year, not sure if a move like that can work 2 years in a row.
Yandle better fucking be the second coming of Brian Leetch to justify losing Zuccarello and Duclair for him. If Arizona can draft Mcdavid Duclair is a 40-50 goal scorer for years on his wing.

It was Moore and Dunclair, Seeing as the coyotes are retaining 1/2 yandles salary, id say you just might be able to resign zucc. Yandle will flourish with Mcdonnough. You lost a little depth in exchange of a super star D man. i'd be prety floored if i were a rangers fan.

I just found about about the 1/2 salary a few minutes ago. That helped soften the blow. Losing Moore isn't big but we also have NO picks in early rounds at all in the next few years. I like Yandle, just not all that sure he is worth this much.

i was so sure the Habs locked that deal down, and I'm bummed. Rangers are not building for the future here, they're going for it. And the key players they habe now wil be there for a few more years. When you think about how long it takes to develope those picks, then consider what they got with Yandle, man, this is a big win for the Rangers. The days of them picking up star players past their prime is done. You have some great young guys, and star players in the peak of their careers, and some great vets too. Then there king Henrik. I'm shocked by your reluctance to be over joyed by this deal. It sleays sucks losing a young budding player like dunclair, but With the back end you have, with the season Nash is having and the supporting case, I'd argue the Rangers just became a big threat to any power house western conference team. The Habs HAVE TO MSKE A MOVE NOW.

I agree with this and might argue that they are better than the Chicago/LA duo thats been so strong in the last few years. Nashville is a beast of its own though. I hope fans in TN are appreciating the quality of hockey that they are getting right now. Their ticket prices are probably lower down there too.
I just checked the prices and puked. $40 for a Habs Preds game in late March. You gotta be fucking kidding me.
do not forget the duck and sharks. I think Chicagos turn has just about expired for this season anyway. With the way Kane was playing for them and to lose that, a 1st round exit wouldn't suprise me. Their goaltending hasn't been up to snuff lately either.

If the Bruins don't get rid of a third or fourth liner today, I really have no idea why we added Connolly. We need a 1st or second winger and maybe a D-man. It's time to consider getting rid of a big name who hasn't been producing. I'd keep the Marchand-Bergeron-Smith line in tact and maybe consider trading Paille or Lucic. I'd say get rid of Kelly or McQuaid but I think Kelly has a no trade and you couldn't get shit back for McQuaid besides some 4th liner or 5th round draft picks.

True. Since it appears we have kept Zuc, and Stephan seems to be under control I am a lot happier now. I am also still reluctant to trust Sather after some of the bullshit he has pulled, which is where much of my pessimism might be coming from lol, however stealing McD for Gomez might have been his turning point. I just don't want to see Duclair turn into another Marc Savard. Only reason I can see for the other moves are depth and letting both Fast and Miller play with Stephniak gone. Teams that worry me are Tampa (they fucking own us this season)and Habs-always a tough match and I love Galchenyuk.
I really don't know what the Bruins were doing here.
Then again, maybe everyone is expecting them to maybe make the 8th seed, lose in the first round, and just hopefully pound the snot out of Montreal in the process.

likely. I mean, the Bruins are still built to be a decent playoff team. I just feel like Chara is becoming more of a liability vs fast teams. The Habs have only gotten better and more experience for its younger players since last year, while the Bruins have lost key and character players, while their best player and captain edges closer to retirement.
Bruins vs habs, who the hell knows, any thing can happen, I just feel like both teams are going in different directions.
Was able to catch the game today, and the Bruins won - which was nice.
Two goals on the power play, two more shorthanded. Impressive job taking advantage on special teams. Now four wins in the last five games, so hopefully things are turning a corner and they can solidify a wild card spot in the playoffs.

Special teams did an awesome job in that game.
I love Sunday's like today where I have nothing to do and am able to catch games all day. I'm hoping the Hawks show up wanting to play today. I've missed about the past week or so of games but I'm excited to see Teuvo get some more ice time today hopefully.
