Kaskade is American DJ & record producer, Ryan Raddon. Born and raised in Chicago, he didn't begin DJ-ing until 1989, practicing in his dorm room at Brigham Young University when he was 19. He later moved to Salt Lake City, UT where he ran a record store by day, and hosted weekly parties at an underground venue by night. In May of 2000, Raddon and his wife moved to San Francisco, where he took a job working for OM Records, a house and electronic label, as an A&R assistant to business head Chris Smith. It was around this time when Ryan Raddon adopted the stage name Kaskade after seeing a picture of a cascading waterfall in a nature book, the name was actually suggested by a co-worker who assured him it was a good choice, his wife thought people would confuse it with the dish detergent brand. During his time at OM he began producing records and continued to DJ at clubs around town. He developed his sound during the early 2000's while being immersed in San Francisco's booming electronic music scene. His first single, "What I Say" was released by OM Records in 2001. His first top 10 hit, "Steppin' Out", wasn't until 2004 off the album In The Moment, it reached number 5 on Billboard Magazine's Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 6 on Dance Radio Airplay. "Sorry (Dirty South Mix)", was his third consecutive top ten hit on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay Chart, and won him his first Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording in 2008. Kaskade scored his first number 1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay Chart in 2008 for a collaboration track, "Move For Me", with Deadmau5. From 2008-2010 Kaskade would have five more chart topping hits throughout the world. 2010 also saw Kaskade headlining Miami's Ultra Music Festival along side world renowned DJ Armin Van Buuren. In 2012 he headlined Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival- Las Vegas, and embarked on a world tour in support of his newest album Fire & Ice. His current album, "Atmosphere", was nominated for two Grammy's this year. First for best dance recording of the year for the song "Atmosphere", the second for dance album of the year. In addition to Bonnaroo, Kaskade is also the Sunday headliner at Spring Awakening in Chicago the same weekend, as well as a headliner for Ultra.

Even if you don't really like EDM, Kaskade's sound is melodic and trancey. It relaxes you and makes you want to dance all at the same time. He uses more instrumentation and beautiful female vocals than most DJ's, and has smooth progressive transistions. It's less about "wub wubs" & "drops", and just a natural build and climax of the melody.

Bring The Night (2007) In The Moment (2004)
Physical Reaction // Personal Notes // Live Show Like any EDM artist, Kaskade is sure to put on a high energy show. I fully expect to go through moments of utter chaotic dancing fits, then pure eyes closed melodic tranced out moments. I've never seen him live, but he is a must see for me. I fell in love with the track "Move For Me" in 2008 and when he plays it (which he will!) I will lose my shit. His music is more than EDM, its the kind of electronic music that gets deep inside you and just makes you want to close your eyes and sway. Then he brings you back and makes you dance and smile. He's one of my go to artists on long drives at night, he puts you at ease and makes you realize why we spend so much time thinking about, and listening to music. The way he does his mixes is just so natural, I can't wait to see all your lovely faces at this show!
Here's his full set from Ultra last year, it contains some obnoxious fan screaming moments, but it is worth at least skipping through some sections of it. Set list also included in description.

How is his visual production? anyone? anyone? Bueller?
I've never really listened to him before, but I saw he has a version of Mark Farina's Dream Machine. I'll be heading to this set after Darkside, me thinks he should end his sunrise set with that track..would be magical

Definitely my favorite EDM artist, by far! I've seen him live 3 times (once at ultra, once at a small festival, and once at a club show) and every show is completely different. He has such a good time when he is performing, it's hard not to enjoy yourself.
I really like the bio/summary above. You are spot on with how his music makes you feel and what he's all about. He's different from a lot of other EDM artists today and he plays mostly music he has produced.
