At First Avenue, Minneapolis, on the final night of the Welcome to Minnesota Tour, Slug of Atmosphere let slip the name of their new album: 'Southsiders'.
Scheduled for release May 6, 2014; just heard a song from it - Bitter -it was alright.
Thoughts? I'm interested to find out how they are received outside of Minnesota.

Atmosphere's material has steadily declined in quality since 2008. Slug and Ant can still hold it down live, but I think I'll always be itching for the Lucy Ford days. How was the show at First Avenue?

I was not able to attend this year, but caught the First Ave show on last year's Welcome To MN tour - Brother Ali, Carnage, Hafduzn, and Get Cryphy was celebrating their fifth year. I agree that they still have it live, and I think bringing hip hop concerts to small, out-state towns is a cool thing for their fans.
I follow you on the declining production since 2008; 'When Life Gives You Lemons...You Paint That Shit Gold' was the high point (so far?). Now that he's not drinking/drugging so much Slug may be running out of material. I'm still excited to see where his head is at now.

My favorite material has gotta be around the Seven's Travels era, but I hear ya, Lemons is a solid album. I'll definitely give Southsiders a listen, but I'm cautious about any expectations. Slug just doesn't write lyrics like he used to. Gotta keep the faith doe, I know that skill is still inside him somewhere.

I really like God Loves Ugly, You Can't Imagine... and Lemons but for some reason never gave the other albums a shot. Need to get around to it some day.

If you liked Plain Ole Bill, every month he and the rest of Get Cryphy have a recurring gig on the first Friday of each month - $3-5 cover for the 300 capacity Record Room upstairs at First Ave.
