For me it's really hard to rank the albums with the exception of Yellow Submarine being last. So I listed my 4 favorite songs from each album(8 for the white album because of the size). I left out Yellow Submarine because only six songs were done by the Beatles, two of them were already on different albums.
No particular order. Please Please Me- do you want to know a secret, P.S. I love you, I saw her standing there, love me do With the Beatles- you really got a hold on me, all my loving, till there was you, money A Hard Days Night- if I fell, and I love her, things we said today, I should've known better Beatles For Sale- I'm a loser, I'll follow the sun, mr. Moonlight, Kansas City Help- I've just seen a face, yesterday, you've got hide your love away, ticket to ride Rubber Soul- Norwegian wood, Michelle, girl, in my life Revolver- Eleanor Rigby, love you to, here, there and everywhere, good day sunshine Sgt. the Beatles are definitely my favorite band and I listen to them more than most. It's one thing to dislike the Beatles but I really find it amusing when people say that they're overrated, lol.

The Beatles are great, really great, but definitely overrated. People put them on a pedestal like they're above criticism, and it's fucked up. Radiohead is a far better band. I also think the Rolling Stones have better singles, but the Beatles have a better complete discography.
Also, all the Yellow Submarine hate is inaccurate.
I don't think they're above criticism, I don't think any band is. It's just funny when people say they weren't that good. I know it's solely based on personal opinions but I think they at least deserve to be recognized for their achievements. It kind of reminds me of my brother-in-law, he said all Bob Marley was is a pot smoking singer, my wife and I just shook our heads.
As for Yellow Submarine, I like the Album but not because of the Beatles, unless the fifth Beatle, George Martin counts as part of "the Beatles". The Beatles only had six songs on the album including "yellow submarine"(revolver) and "all you need is love" (MMT). So with only four fresh songs done by the Beatles it's hard to put the album above any of the other albums.
Note: I was not always a big Beatles fan until about 5 years ago.

Yeah some Beatles fans can be a bit much and put them above the heavens. It's funny to watch and I think I'm automatically lumped into that group when I say I'm a fan.....until I prove otherwise hahaha.
I don't think I've ever met anyone who likes them like I do but I'm a bit more realistic and I love them flaws and all. I first heard Abbey Road in college ('05 I think) and they are all I listened to since then....which is why I'm so behind on music these days. When I meet people that are fans they usually only like the singles or famous songs....and I've noticed some people hate The Beatles because of those songs. One of my best friends tolerates them now because I played him things that he's never heard from them and for that alone I'm proud. He typically hates anything that's popular though so excuse him.
They're not perfect though but they're one darn good band. My favorite actually.
The Beatles and Radiohead both have their own set of fanboys. That's a silly comparison to make. It's too early to determine Radiohead's legacy but I guarantee you they won't make a quarter of the impact The Beatles made on popular culture. They haven't yet and it's not like they're new to the game.

I used to not like the Beatles at all because all I knew was their hits. When I actually dove into their catalog, I realized what an awesome band they are. However, I think there are a lot of people that claim they're Beatles fans when they only know the hits. One thing that a lot of people seem to ignore is that (at least in my opinion) the Beatles have a lot of just bad songs. When they are good I agree that they're easily one of the best bands of all time, but some of their stuff I just can't listen to.

For sure. I think the same runs the opposite way. Whenever I tell people I am not crazy about them, I have to go through this rigorous series of checks to prove that I have given them a shot otherwise I get lumped into the "oh, you just haven't really listened to them" category.

Great great list. But you're missing a couple....help! (My favorite song on help!, it's the lyrics for me... They just speak to me. Got me through hard times. Sounds a bit silly though doesn't it?) because, I want you, & golden slumbers / carry that weight. (This one, among others, brought me to tears last year. The entire performance was like a dream and I'm pretty sure I was crying for like half of it..... I can't be alone!)

There's no reason to ignore that. I mean it's not like they were immune to subpar work. I would never be like, "omg you've never heard the Beatles?! Let me play you, Glass Onion".
I think what Beatles' haters tend to forget is that they did what they did in ONLY 10 years. 10 years guys! A decade of work which went on to inspire generations. And think of all the different styles they played with and how easily they progressed/adapted in such a small amount of time. The Rolling Stones have practically been the same band since 1962. What the Beatles achieved is remarkable and I don't see how anyone could disagree.

Not with me. If someone has shown that they kinda know about music and don't like the Beatles, I can get that. That's why I don't give you and GL shiz for the Beatles stuff. Juggs claiming Moondance sucks, though, is still unforgivable.

I left plenty out, I was just trying to limit it to my top 4 favorites from each album. Yes, Macca put on a hell of a show and it was just a bonus if you were a Beatles fan. There were definitely emotional moments throughout the show.
Also - any "definitive" list of Beatles albums that has Revolver lower than 3rd or 4th, is a list put together by a "definitive" brain damaged human being. quacker's got the best list so far. Not perfect, but close.

I love "moondance", great song! Like a lot of Van Morrisons songs for that matter, he's top 10 on my list.

The only problem with Revolver is it's not as good as those other albums.
Oh trust me, I knew what I was doing. I didn't use your name because I never know when "brain damage" becomes "come to my house and burn it down crazy."
I can understand that some people listen to their catalog and determining that they are overrated. But IMO the reason many people nowadays do that is because they didn't live The Beatles and lack the experience of how they set the cultural direction of popular music for about 5 years. That is a major factor in the esteem in which they are held. Of course they didn't create in a vacuum and had their own influences like any other musician. But they had a rare ability of digesting all of that and turning it into gold that was groundbreaking at the time and mostly was critically acclaimed. They were pretty much the only band doing that at the time. The early Stones (who I also love) pretty much followed The Beatles' lead but were always a step behind them until they finally cemented their own voice with the release of Beggar's Banquet. Other musicians created some groundbreaking releases but didn't have the clout of The Beatles. Today's music culture is vast, varied and multi-faceted with no primary trend setter. T'weren't like that in the sixties.

I figure as long as someone can tell me they understand why The Beatles were important, I'll let it go.
FTR: I dislike them but even I own Revolver and Rubber Soul.
