Pallbearer definitely has the lead for me so far. Still need to sit down with Spoon's newest. I enjoy Ty Segall's, but not as much as Pallbearer at this point. Sinead Oconnor is solid as well.

I didn't even know Pallbearer had a new album coming out this month. August just keeps on surprising me.

I thought it was just too long. It would have been better if a few tracks had been trimmed and saved for a "deluxe version" or something. Although the stuff I liked, I really liked.

Same. It actually got to a point where I forgot I was listening to it even though I was using headphones.

I think August has been the best month for new releases this year. Spoon, Spider Bags, FKA Twigs, Pallbearer are all really great. I still haven't listened toTy Segall or Merchandise yet, which I'm sure is going to make this a harder choice then it already is

and then consider the leaks of Goat and Caribou, it's been tough trying to keep up.

True that. Coming into August I thought Spoon was going to win August AOTM by a landslide, I was obviously pretty mistaken
Is Ty taking Thee Oh Sees' place as best live band?
Man....
To answer your first question, I'm going to have to say that Feel has recently overtaken Black and White as song of the year. My reasons for saying this as that Black and white has been murdered by over playing, and Feel is still relit icky fresh, and watching live footage of Ty playing Feel on Conan gets my way harder than watching Parquet Courts play Black and White on KXPX. That said, in a few weeks/ months, I may revisit this question. I know love 2 live performances I mentioned shouldn't play a part in such a decision, but whatever! You see that shit man!?!?
Secondly, the Ty set at Bonnaroo was easily top 5 all time show I've ever seen. Thee Oh Sees currently hold the #1 still, BUT I have a feeling if I were to compare a current Oh Sees show to Ty's show, Ty would probably come out on top, but then again, I don't want to underestimate Mr. Dwyer.
July-flashback. I have to admit - I didn't enjoy this album at first. After 4-5 tries, I am now loving it. She has such a great voice... and an obvious great talent for songwriting.

I wasn't aware that QotSA had been usurped as Best Live Band
they use to be my #1 until I saw Radiohead, Thee Oh Sees, Nick Cave, Swans, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Iceage, Darkside, Kanye West, And Arcade Fire, I would now place QOTSA directly behind those bands I've listed in my personal best live shows. They are still great, but those above are greater IMO.
