That's a great add by BSMF. Festival bookers have really stepped up their game the last 3 or 4 years. It felt like for a few years in early 2000's they were coasting on the fact the fest is much less expensive to attend than the heavies of the festival scene. That's gone now, they're providing legit value when you buy your 3-day pass.

So I try to avoid random speculation about artists who might appear in the festival lineup, but I think there's a great chance of BSMF booking Haim. They currently have all 3 dates of the best open and they're in the southest before and after the fest. This is the kind of up and comer the festival has been grabbing the last few years.

I'm not 100% sure how it works, but the entirety of the Memphis in May International Festival is a non-profit organization. In that spirit I would assume they make every attempt to keep the tickets as cheap as possible.

Lots of folks suggesting Arcade Fire will be in the lineup. They're in the area and have those dates open, but am I wrong to think they're just too big right now for BSMF? I love this fest, but there is a level of booking they can't reach because of the relatively very low cost of a 3-Day Pass (compared to the heavyweights like Lolla, Bonnaroo, ACL, Coachella, etc.).

Arcade Fire would be cool. They had Phoenix last year, not nearly as big of an act as AF and I'm sure Beale had them booked at less of a cost than would have paid after they were announced as Coachella headliners.

Probably not happening
Looked at the AF tour dates. I wouldn't be surprised if they hop on a plane to Europe for their London show on the 6th after the ATL show on the second. The 3rd and 4th are definitely open for Beale, but I wouldn't expect it.
10/12 - Nils Frahm
10/20 - Mos Def
11/01 - Souls of Mischief
11/08 & 11/15 - The Rolling Stones
12/05 - The Preatures
12/13 - Sydney Psych Fest
12/13 - Nick Cave (solo)
12/15 - Damon Albarn
12/30 - 01/01 - Lost Paradise

Carolina Chocolate Drops just released dates through mid April. They're playing Merle Fest on April 24th. That would leave the dates open for BSMF and they'll probably be in the area. I love CCD, though I'm curious to see how things will change with Dom Flemons leaving the band.

Just went back to last year. When the Early Bird tix went on sale (which happens this Friday), the fest had already leaked (among others), Gary Clark, Jr., Public Enemy, Patti Smith, the Black Crowes, Dwight Yoakam and Deer Tick. This year's likes so far don't come close to that in terms of creating interest in the tix (beyond just their really cheap price). So I gotta think we're gonna see some action on the Facebook page today and/or tomorrow.
