In the case of this contest only, I'm not seeing what Phi did as being wrong. He commented about a picture that won being against the contest rules. That's something the contest admins should've noticed. If I had a dog in the hunt, I'd point it out too.

I gotta chime in here......@ntellier85 , Gibran and I had entered the same contest. I tweeted Phi yesterday afternoon to tell him a winner had FINALLY been selected (they were supposed to announce on Mon, so they were a day late). His response to me included @talenthouse and all he said was, "thats crap. the rules clearly state the photo can not have third party references. that photo has 2 watermarks." I believe we probably wouldn't be celebrating a fellow board member winning the contest had that tweet exchange not taken place. Why get upset about knowing the truth? Yeezus, it's like not keeping score at a soccer game and handing out trophies to all the kids so no one feels bad. He would have won outright had the original photo not been included since it violated the rules of the contest. So, y'all have fun at MOEMS and quit yer bickerin'.....
btw.....I know there are many "personalities" on the board and many things are said in jest and good fun. But, my god, it gets a bit ridiculous at times, all the personal attacks and pettiness.

Just a question, and I'm not trying to fight with you here: If Talenthouse, as a result of Phi's tweet, had simply asked the original winner to resubmit his photos sans-watermark and then given him the prize, would you find that objectionable?
I'm interesting in your opinion as well but you said you were done commenting.
What contest works that way? None that I know of. It seems fair that if you violate the rules that they pick someone else. I know it looks bad, me saying this. "Easy to say when I benefited"
But I enter a lot of contests, I pay close attention to the rules because they are all different and very specific. I have missed things before and not been considered in the contest, I learned my lesson and now I pay closer attention.

No one is saying Talenthouse shouldnt have done just that. And had they done that, no one would have known and this whole negativity piss party wouldn't have been started.
It seriously is so unbelievable how you guys can take a positive thing for someone on this forum and turn it negative and absolutely ruin it. Not to mention you weren't involved in the contest, nor attending the festival.

Look, you seemed to say it was awkward for you to win this way and I respect that. I've seen you're photos, you're a worthy winner and I don't mean to belittle your prize. But lots of things work this way. If you submit a paper for publication that's not formatted correctly, it's certainly not uncommon to be asked to resubmit. Especially if the reviewers find the work to be otherwise meritorious.

I read this to mean that you don't really care about watermarks but you publicly called the way they handled the contest "CRAP" anyway. Fine. And FTR, if you hadn't come in here gloating that you're the reason the first gloating that you're the reason that the first guy got DQd, this whole negative piss party also wouldn't have been started.
Since you kids can't settle this, I'm just gonna have to take the tickets. Sorry Brock, there'll be other contests.
Too late. Brock already handed them off to Abra and I. That being said, I would like to take back everything I said about VIP people being elitists and throw my early support to Brock as Mod of the Year.

Well that's awesome. Welcome to the elitist club sir! It's full of free moonshine and massages!

Moonshine for me. Massages for Abra. Viva le Gibran!
The Mountain Oasis rep gave me a couple of hours to get her emails and names for the tickets. I know there were several people that would have liked them. I just didn't have much time to ask around. Since Abra and Dave were already going I knew it would be a quick turn around. And I thought they would enjoy them immensely. I'm sorry, to those others that would have liked them.

If anyone has a problem with you hooking those two up with VIP tix, point them in my direction and I'll happily tell them to get f*cked. Good on you, Gibran, Mr & Mrs Abra are well deserving.

I think it's one of those things with doing something charitable. You always want to do a little more. I am cruising toward having enough street team points to probably be able to donate one to QSAROO next year, but I have already been catching myself trying to plot out if I will have enough points to donate two.
