The Nikon fisheye I want that I rented for last year's Rock N Roll Resort is only $650, but the 24-70 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 are both give or take $2k so I'll probably get a 50 1.8, the fisheye and rent when I need something better for low light then my current Tamron 18-270 all in one.
Also I just applied to be a staff photog for Mountain Jam, wish me luck as I'll need plenty of it!
I use a Nikon and you can get a rokinon fisheye for the Nikon dslrs for like 350 and they're just as good as a canon or Nikon. If your hell bent on getting a fisheye look into those
I am about to get the Sony G SSM II it is a 2.8, test drove it at my last festival. I shoot with Sony so everything is a little more expensive but I have been pleased with the quality. Upon further consultation I may not go with a fisheye but maybe with a 14-24 2.8 to fill the wide angle department.
So my bag will be: Sony 24-70 2.8, Sony 70-200 2.8, and a Sony 14-24 2.8 or lower. That should cover it.

Just for future reference when you say you "applied for a staff photographer spot" is there a separate application for a staff spot as opposed to just applying for credentials? I understand the benefits to landing a staff spot, just wondered how you went about it. And good luck!

I went onto the contact page to make sure I emailed the correct person and to follow up on the press app and I saw this link:
Photo & Video Team | More Info
which led to the staff photog/video application. Never seen it before anywhere, just some mentions in FAQ pages on other fests saying please don't email us asking to be an official photographer as we have them already
My shots from the record release party 7/19 at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn with an album review of Tauk! One of the darkest venues I have ever shot.
Been pretty busy the last few months...a lot of new stuff. Check it out if you have a moment. Select photos are available for *purchase, should you be interested in one. My email is on the website.

Geez, I forgot this thread existed. My camera hasn't been out of the bag in months. I enjoy a shooting a different medium than y'all , but still, maybe your work will inspire me. Gibran I freaking love that 2nd shot of St. Vincent.

Get out there and shoot! :-) Thank you, she is very photogenic. It was a perfect show all around to shoot.
They really are a lot of fun. Great musicians that put on a very entertaining show. Brought a girl to their show this year, she thought I was bringing her to some corny shit. Untill they started playing and she danced all night long. Great photos as well.

This Gary Clark Jr photo from Forecastle took me awhile to get the *edit where I wanted. It was a perfect moment in the rain and the yellow lights accenting him.
Prints are available, message me for details if you are interested. I normally do not advertise that, but Christmas is coming soon. Actually, most photos on my site are available.
*By edit I mean some color correction and the like. Nothing was "added" to this photo.
