True. When using a tripod, turn VR/IS off. I haven't needed a remote, yet. Doing 30sec shots or setting the timer to do star trails, has been sufficient, but since I want to explore light painting, etc. I'm gonna need a remote. I haven't used Lightroom. I've got CS6, but for quick adjustments, I just use Picasa.

It's that time of year in Illinois, the bald eagles are back in force. Ready to mingle, mate and raise their eaglets. There is a mating pair (not pictured) that I love to watch as they fish and tend to their nest. Unfortunately, a windstorm wiped it out late last spring, and I'm not entirely sure they have rebuilt in the same place. Anyway, here are my 1st photos of the season
A lot of shows added as I have had a streak of good luck (as photo passes go) here in Columbus. Just made some changes to the site as well. Some more additions to come in the Photographer section. I have also upgraded the equipment my concert setup is now Sony A77 body with a Sony Zeiss 24-70 2.8 lens. Not sure how I got by without a 2.8 lens, a world of difference, love it. Also still have the Tamron 18-200 3.5 as a backup.

I love to see new posts here. I always think, "Yay!! New shots to look at!" I haven't done much of any shooting this winter. It's been so dang cold and snowy. I'll be starting a 6 week road trip vacation heading west to Arizona at the end of March. I'll be dusting the cobwebs off my camera then
Also, I edited the OP, but thought I'd put the new link here too. I've put a few of my favorite shots on Flickr click here
