Tomorrow night at Phil's club in San Rafael (Terrapin Crossroads) I'm seeing:
Phil, Stanley Jordan, John Kadlicek, Jeff Chimenti, John Molo. The Jordan/JK guitar duo is sublime. Chimenti's keyboards are amazing. Molo holds his own on drums. And then there's that Phil guy. As much as I'd like to see the Dead shows in Chicago, I feel very fortunate to have so many opportunities to see Phil perform with so many talented younger musicians. Plus, there's the difference between being in a crowd of 50,000+ and being in a crowd of 250 or so.

Holy shiz Set 2. Plus Stanley Jordan? I'm so jealous of y'all and terrapin crossroads.

It's pretty incredible how spoiled we are. And if I head 5 miles or so South, there's Bob Weir's club (although I much prefer Phil's - he's far more generous in sharing the spotlight with other amazing musicians). Then there are some not-too-sucky venues in SF, Oakland, Berkeley, and the surrounding environs.
In a week and a half I'm back at TXR to see Phil and his Friends Chris Robinson, Adam McDougall and Neal Cassal of Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Stu Allen, and Ezra Lipp (whom I've never heard of but am able to deduce through a complicated process that is hard to explain is a drummer).
Got in for a travel package at Hyatt McCormick Place. See y'all there.
I booked a cancellable room at the Intercontinental last month, but I still halfheartedly tried for a cheap ticket package. No luck over here. Good news is it looks like a lot of people did get travel packages. At least one of my friends did and looks like a lot of people on PT too.
We'll see how tomorrow goes. If I don't get tickets then I'll just cancel the trip and take it as money in my pocket. Go to that phish festival later this summer instead.
Good luck to everyone today! If anyone happens to be able to snag a couple extras, keep me in mind as I'll be in the market if I'm not able to get through!
So I've only been to Chicago once -- on a school trip 20 years ago. I am looking at booking a hotel for the show, any suggestions on where the best/convenient place to stay would be?
I found the Hilton for $213 a night, Regency for $199 and Holiday Inn Mart Plaza for $170.
Maybe a Chicago local or someone familiar with the area can chime in.
Older post so you may have your answer already. I would recommend if you'd, or anyone else not from around here, would be willing to stay just outside the city in rosemont, hillside, ect. You will pay half the price a night for a room most likely and the hotels downtown are sure to be booked that weekend. Public transportation to get downtown will be very easy to come by. And if you stayed near park ridge you could always take the blue line from Cumberland station. Hope I could be some help to anyone!

I have made the decision to not try for tickets this morning. I would rather not get one for that reason than to try and not get though. I am already on the hole $30 for my two money order refunds. Maybe I will stream it. I will definitely download them later. Good luck with the madness this morning.
I'm in the waiting room for both Friday and Sunday. I had cleared the waiting room for Sunday, but I was going for pit and it came back nothing available.

im in the waiting room for 3 day passes...
individual days i kept getting "demand too high"
don't think this is gonna happen.
edit:
I got through, got a message that said my tickets were reserved on another TM browser window, and then it redirected back to the search for tickets page. I had no other TM windows opened. Now I just keep getting " we cannot process your request at this time." I am defeated.

Waited for 30 minutes with wait time going from 40 down to 6 back up to 20. Got through for it to say none available. Now I'm on my way to work, 2 and a half hours late. Good luck if there's any hope left at this point
