They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.

I think I'm in, too. I'd love to be at the Sunday show, but I'll have to be at work on Monday. That 12 hour drive from Chicago kind of makes that impossible.
Its 14 for me...and I think im going to have to just have to figure it out. Get back home and just drive straight to work haha.

My wife's cousin is getting married in Chicago that weekend. I have to be at the Sunday show. I just know it. I saw the dead twice in 03 and 04 (@ Bonnaroo)! I could literally never go to another show if I score these tickets. I mean what else could top it? For me, nothing. I am in deep south Texas and I never gave any thought to being in the cities where these shows might occur at the times they might occur. This is just too much.

So I've only been to Chicago once -- on a school trip 20 years ago. I am looking at booking a hotel for the show, any suggestions on where the best/convenient place to stay would be?
I found the Hilton for $213 a night, Regency for $199 and Holiday Inn Mart Plaza for $170.
Maybe a Chicago local or someone familiar with the area can chime in.

These prices are for booking 7/3-5.
I just booked the Intercontinental 7/3-7/6 for $951 total, no upfront deposit, cancellable with no penalty up to 7/2.
Not sure if I'm going to be able to make this happen, but I was talking with my primary live music friends about it last night. One of them is insistent that it would be "immoral" for us not to make these shows. That's the first time I've heard that argument for live music.
I really want to make this happen, but its a difficult decision with bonnaroo just a few weeks before. I guess its possible to do both if I disregard all possibility of doing a phish run this summer.
Good luck getting tickets everyone! I'll be staying at a friend's apartment 20 minutes away. My group plans on taking in the Cubs afternoon game on the 4th if anyone needed an extra activity to do.

I'm real curious how demand will be for this. Hard to gauge. It could be an instant sell out or take months to sell out, I really don't know.

They're making this a destination event, I expect all three shows to sell out the first day tickets are on sale. If that's not the case the tickets that remain will be nose bleeds.

The cubs game or Fare Thee Well? Just kidding. I'm in the same boat. Trying the mail sale on Tuesday. If no luck, trying internet presale and finally ticketmaster and the secondary market. It's been a long time since they have played a stadium that big if I'm not mistaken. But they did routinely play close to 20000 seaters on their last tour. And they played two nights at Allstate arena in rosemont in 2009. I am gonna be occupied with family functions the 3rd and 4th so the only day I can attend is the 5th and likely most in demand show. The more I look into it the more worried I get.

I have four different households sending in our mail orders, and our resident artists have already decorated too many envelopes. I feel like it'll be an instant sellout, with prices reaching crazy prices on secondary markets.

I fully admit I could be completely wrong, but I don't have the 100% confidence y'all have that it will be an instant sell out.

Put me in the camp of "Quick Sellout" - I'll be mailing in our request in Tuesday also.

Does anyone have any experience with the mail order ticket market that goes live Tuesday? I know the rules, but still don't know what to expect. Will we know by if we have tickets by February 12 so we can get them on presale if we need to? Thanks in advance!

Never done mail order before, but this is what it says on the instruction page: Our goal is to notify folks of their ticket status by the outlet on sale date.

Thanks dreamingtree. I saw that too and it seems to mean that they will let us know by 2/12, but I just am not familiar with the term "outlet on sale date". I guess I will be able to move any extra tickets I get. Like I will get tickets both ways.

Yeah no matter what, I am going to try to get them online also, just in case. I am sure I will know someone who needs them if I don't use them!

That's understandable. I might be underestimating the amount of people soldier field can hold.
