The new material sounds great. I never got the chance to stream the album, so I only knew the 3 songs they play on the local radio here, but it sounded great, definitely a little different from their past work.
Hearing Footsteps for the first time was the biggest highlight for me. It was one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar, so I have a soft spot for it. Rearviewmirror was also awesome live, never heard them play that in the 3 times I've seen them
"Pendulum" as a starter...awesome. Definitely my favorite song on the album, and i could see it working as an outstanding opener. Hopefully "Getaway" will see a decent amount of rotation in set lists. That song is too good not use it live.

Loved that show! I needed a few days to digest, I found the set list really odd for some reason. But now that I've had a few days to let it all sink in, I can say that it was a great show! Not one of their best I've been to, they were pretty sloppy and had a few fuck ups. Loved Pendulum to start! They played Rats! AND SOLAT right into Porch!!!!!!!!!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

Hey guys for anyone whos been to a show so far, what time did PJ go on? Is their an opening act that played for an hour? I got work the day I have to go and am just trying to time it out right. Thanks.

The Buffalo show was good but comparing it to the the other 4 PJ shows I've seen, it was definitely #5. I would say my seats had something to do with it, but the set list was odd, not bad, just different. And I agree with you, Rats and State of Love and Trust were the highlights for me as well.

There is no opener for the first leg of the tour. Pearl Jam tweeted today that they are supposed to come on at 8:00 for the rest of this leg, but at Pittsburgh and Buffalo they went on closer to 8:30

They went on shortly after 8:20 both nights (Friday and Saturday), as a vet of 20+ shows, I found the setlist to be absolutely stellar. If you heard their townhall on Sirius last week, they made note that the the "PJ20" setlists were safe, and relatively fan friendly, but with the new album, and energy, they are planning on being a little more experimental with the setlists this tour. (which kills me even more since I only scored tix for night 1 and 2. Low Light, Immortality, Rats, I got ID, Present Tense, Off He Goes, Indiffernece, Go, State of Love and Trust??? Holy crap was that amazing.
They did have a couple start n stops, which didn't happen the night before, and they actually huddled up a few times between songs, but they played just as long, and jammed a bit more.

Couldnt of been a better Birthday show. Ed dedicated Crazy Mary to the birthdays in the building, messed up the opening to Off He Goes comical, swung around on a lighting fixture, and they put all the lights on in the place for the whole 3rd encore. It was a very lack of the radio hits set list and more-so a fan club kinda show. Lot of B-sides but not to far off in the catalog. Closed with Indifference which is another favorite of mine. It did start a little slow for my taste but with songs like Sonic Reducer, Spin the Black Circle, and Porch being in there it helped balance the set list out. They brought a fan with a Ramones sign in the very back of the stage rafters and her son down to the stage steps and played I Believe in Miracles to go along with Pink Floyds Mother as the cover songs of the evening. No Black, no Betterman, no State of Love and Trust. In was Not For You, Brain of J, Lukin!

Really diggin' the new album. Up there with Ten and VS. for me. Can't wait to see them in Cali next month!
The new songs sound awesome live, especially Let the Records Play and Mind Your Manners. Whole show was incredible though, best I've seen all year (besides Macca at Roo of course).

I think this is there worst album other than Riot Act. No way it's even close to Vs. and Ten, IMO. It has some standout tracks that I really enjoy: Pendulum, Getaway, Future Days. In fact the whole front end of the album is good, and then it just falls off and gets boring until Future Days.

Really? I don't think the album comes close to Ten, but I enjoy it. A lot better the backspacer IMO.
Was at the the show in Charlottesville, awesome performance. I don't think I have ever seen anybody put more into a show than Eddie Vedder. It was an odd setlist, but very enjoyable. Did a cover of Pink Floyd song, teenage wasteland, little wing. No yellow ledbetter, evenflow, black, or better man. My favorites of the night were Release, Sirens, and Rearview Mirror.

IMO Backspacer is the best Post-Yield album they've done and I dont think its that close. Then again it came out when I "rediscovered" the band and was obsessed with them, so maybe I'm biased.
Vs. Ten No Code Vitalogy Yield Backspacer Pearl Jam
Vs. No Code Ten Yield Vitalogy -jumbled mess- Binaural Riot Act
Vitalogy is overated and sloppy and terrible outside of the standout songs, which are good enough to keep it afloat. Yield is criminally underrated. The band's output post-Yield has been embarrassing.
You are a little harder on them then I think is necessary, but I do agree that there is a definite drop off from pre-yield to post-yield, although I still think Backspacer and Pearl Jam are good albums. Pitchfork's review of the new album brought up a fair criticism of the band mentioning that they refuse to step out of their comfort zone, which is definitely true. Nowadays, a Pearl Jam album isn't so much about the quality of the album as a whole. It's about the few diamonds in there that will be added to their live shows. Not that that's a good thing.

I am really looking forward to seeing them in a couple weeks, as I'd like to hear the new songs live. I find I get a little bored about halfway through and switch to something else. sometimes it just sounds a little lazy, like they're just going through the motions of a typical a rock band.

3 sleeps until I leave for Seattle. I have two exams and three assignments to get done before I fly out, but I cannot concentrate. This is almost a level of Roo excitement. Anyone else gonna be at this show?
Anyone here from Seattle? Or been there and have any ideas on cool shit to do?

My ranking of albums is going to take more time, and thought. My favourite song is "Black"...I know it's been overdone and it's a bit of a typical answer. But that song has meant more to me than any other. Closely followed by "In my Tree" and "Present Tense"
In re-reading that, it makes me seem like I only like the slower stuff.....but I don't.
Here's a video from Spokane I came across today. Amazing stuff.
