This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
Did they make it one giant pit for his show? That's what it looked like from videos and pictures I saw.
No. Still two sides.
I think the there are two reasons the pit wasn't full by the end of the line: 1.) Many people think the What pit is VIP only and 2.) People don't realize how big the pit is. The line stretches halfway down the field and people figure it's too late to hop in line, but it's not.

No, it was definitely one giant pit. They didn't have the normal barriers down the middle.
They did but there were just a shiz ton of people standing in that barrier alley.
Did they take them down at the end or something? I was in the left pit but at the end walked out through the right. Also, I don't want the secret of the pit to ever get out. I normally don't care about being too super close but it's the best way to do What. I walked up and in a couple times over the weekend. Getting in the Macca pit was my number one goal for the weekend and once it was done I knew I was going to have the time of my life.

I guess I'm wrong then, I coulda swore i saw a picture from a photographer standing in that alley during macca. ill try to find it.

Yup, when I ran into the pit I actually kept running past center because I wanted to catch the side rail. It really fucked with my head when the pit kept going.
Got into the pit twice, for The National and Local Natives. It was fairly easy, I'd never done that before. I actually kind of stumbled into the line accidentally both times just a few minutes before the sets started. Is it always that easy to get in? I tried to get into The xx but no one really knew where the line started on the Which and we eventually got to think it was either already full or there wasn't one there. Confusing stuff!
I think most people just assumed it would be full for McCartney. At least everyone in my group did, so we just skipped trying to get into it. Now I'm kicking myself.
according to the census, 60% of people at roo every year are virgins, so they simply dont even know the pit exists. they keep walking till they hit the crowd and figure thats it. only veterans really know about the pit, and only the true veterans or inforoo truly knows that the pit hardly ever caps.
