My work will give people performance bonuses for meeting certain standards. It's 25 cents an hour for one level, 75 cents an hour for a higher level, and 1.50 for the top level.
In the last week of current bonus period, I got stuck doing jobs which I normally don't do so well at. Which meant I dropped from the 75 cent level to the 25 cent level. On the final day, I got stuck picking boxes of flooring tiles - killing any shred of hope of getting back to 75 cents an hour.
Apparently a couple of families have sent their kids in here with strep and respiratory infections. They fill them full of meds and send them in like nothing is wrong. These families have others who can watch their kids when needed, its not like they're at risk of losing their jobs cause of sick children. This kind of shit pisses me off. Not only are their kids miserable when they're here and sick, but they spread whatever they have to the other kids, including infants. And they give it to us. I started coughing last night and my chest is burning today. I swear if I get sick and have to miss Roo I will probably get fired cause I'm gonna completely lose my shit and blow the fuck up on a couple of these parents. No joke. I'm so done with some of these people.
Because I work for the government, we have to type up summaries for everything we do. I wrote/completed 4 summaries this week, I was feeling good. Supervisor sent out a team-wide e-mail last night letting us know something we needed to start adding to our summaries LAST WEEK. We've been instructed to go back and update all of our summaries we've done since last week.

I'm at school from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM every day. I teach 4-5 hours a day in 105+ degree heat in classrooms with no A/C and ceiling fans that only have work. I have upwards of 40 students in each class. Shit wears you down so fast and I've come so close to throwing in the towel numerous times.
Interview tomorrow for an IT job. Should be asleep. But can't. Nervous for it and anxious to get it past me.
Best of luck!
I'm (again) considering going into the mental health field. I know it'll be stressful, but at least I get to make a difference in people's lives, and casual workplace convos will be about things that interest me. I really don't think anyone at my job understands the degree to which I totally do not care about sales. And given that my job is largely to increase sales...lulz.

My job just laid off most of our physical therapy department in order to privatize. My director says that we're next within 2 years. I don't want to get paid significantly less to do significantly more work and not have health insurance.
Sometimes, I feel like no one cares about the foodservice industry. Especially not our union.

So let me start with, our paralegal is a wonderful person, and I consider her a friend. And the thing is, she really is overloaded with responsibilities, some of which just shouldn't be assigned to her. But yesterday, I sent her something for proofing and got it back 45 minutes later. Now, right after I sent it, I started to do a proof of it myself, and it took me like two and a half hours. I found maybe 25 typos in the thing (not in the part I wrote!). She found 1, and it wasn't actually an error. It was a stylistic thing that our supervisor agreed with me that it didn't actually need to be changed to what she said. It's not that she did a bad job of it; it's that I'm like 95% certain she did not actually read about 40 pages of a 42 page document. The structure of our office is not one in which it would be okay for me to talk to her about this myself, so instead, I had to go to our mutual supervisor today and tell him that this happened. I felt like such an asshole doing that.

Has she been a quality employee in the past? Maybe something new on the job - or, much more awkward for the manager, at home - is the root cause. This part of work life stinks.
Good luck. You are not in an easy position, but seem to be coming from the right place.
All I want to do is watch House Of Cards & this damn phone won't stop ringing!!!! I have one hour left of my 12 hour shift. Soooooo ready to go. So ready.
Edit: Really my main complaint is that the "phones" person isn't answering the phones......
I inherited work from an employee that left about a month ago. I'm baffled as to how this employee had a job for 2 years. I have spent the past month cleaning up this person's mess. I'm tired of answering questions as to why they did what they did. I DON'T KNOW!! I'm furious today.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
My boss always hires student employees with out paying attention to their class schedules and then when she ends up needed more because there are big chunks no one can cover she tries to make me take the ones she can't use. The last time this happened the girl was an idiot and an awful employee until she was eventually fired and charged for stealing $200 out of a wallet. Please just let me do my own hiring.

Our legal assistant is the best. Our boss sent her an email telling her to set up a videoconference and then "inform Patrick where he needs to go" for the conference. She replied with just, "Patrick has been told where to go."
we pay these people to "float" from office to office to within the company to cover vaycays and such. I swear they are SO worthless. made my day MISERABLE.
One bad thing about working in childcare is that it is a constant reminder of just how terrible people can be. Like when you seen signs that a child is possibly being abused in one way or another. There are so many monsters out there.
