Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I brought a lot of food but ended up eating only the Pringles. I bought the vendor food the rest of the time. I wasn't at camp enough (awake) to bother making food.
Everyone always talks about cooking and recipes.. anyone here just grab some bread, pb, fruit, doritos and go??
The first time I went we brought a bunch of food, sandwich stuff, chips, all sorts of things. I didn't eat any of it.
The second time I went, I brought a bunch of junkie food like poptarts and chips and such, we ended up eating it all on Sunday afternoon in a little party with our neighbors.
Last year, I didn't bring any food at all and I didn't miss it. I'm not sure why, but I just don't eat that much at Bonnaroo. It's just too hot during the day to eat more than just light, snacky food and there's too much going on at night to eat more than just one solid meal. People talk about the vendor food being expensive, but I don't think I spent more than 60 dollars on food last year and all I ate was vendor food. Now, this includes official Centeroo vendor food as well as the stuff outside as well as unofficial stuff from people in the campgrounds.
I think all the biggest rookie mistakes have been covered in this thread and I can attest to most of them from experience in 2007...my friend stayed up all night Thursday night and was worthless the rest of the festival and we didn't bring any shade for our camp. Huge mistakes. No shade for the camp is a miserable experience.
One other thing to consider...yes the water provided for free has an odd smell to it but it's totally free. During the day, I would have my pack with sunscreen and towel and such in it but at night all you really need to bring with you into Centeroo is some sort of empty bottle with a cap. If you want to get fancy, bring a Sigg bottle or something. Bringing tons of bottled water is just not necessary. I brought three cases of bottled water last year and we drank one case of them just at the camp. The rest of the time we were using the free water. I'm sure we were totally fortified with minerals after that.

I think you need good sandals during the day. It's too hot for shoes and socks for me. I wore my adidas flip flops with the squishy soles the whole weekend last year with no problems, but sneakers at night is definately a good idea if you're not used to sandals.
As far as the well water goes, I have no problem with it especially in that heat, but I lived in the country for a while and was used to it.... I LOVE that there is even an option of free water.
First show at Bonnaroo. My god! You are going to be severly let down whenever you see any other show the rest of your life. I mean my first BIG concert experience was Strokes and Foo Fighters in the early 2000s and i was probably 12 or 13, and that was an awesome experience in itself. Roo as a first would've made my head explode.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Well I don't think you'll necessarily be let down at every other show, because I think every show is its own unique experience, but you are super lucky to pop your concert cherry at roo
Well this is my first time going and I am very very very worried going at all is going to be a mistake. Don't get me wrong I am super excited and this looks like it could be the most epic/magical/fun time of my life....BUT, me and 2 or 3 buddies are driving from a little place called moncton New Brunswick Canada 1,629 miles each way straight driving, except for probably a night break on the way back. Thank God for this website so atleast I will be prepared for it but I'm still a little worried about whether or not my body will be up to the task.
This will be my first festival as well, and this site is already proving to be an invaluable resource for the first-time solo Bonnaroo goer! Thanks everyone!

If those of us that are 40 and over can handle Bonnaroo - so can you - just pace yourself
Aw, don't be worried. It's my first Roo, but not my first fest, and they are such a fabulous time. The best thing I can tell you is to take it easy and pace yourself, and don't spend any significant time worrying about anything while you're there. It will ruin your weekend if you spend the whole time being worried/negative. Remember that you will most likely not get to see every single show you wanted to, but don't stress over it. I know it sounds cheesy and cliche, but just go with the flow, and everything will be alright ;D

Wow, what a way to experience your first concert. I remember my first show. Tom Petty in 1995 with my mom during the Wildflowers tour. It was a little weird when everyone starting smoking out around us. You will have the time of your life.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
I've been to Roo the past 3 years and atleast once every time I go I get lost walking back from centeroo at like 3 or 4 in the morning. This year the first thing I'm doing is putting a big X on the map where I'm camped and then draw a line of the best route to/from the arch. This way even If I personally can't figure out where I'm going I can call on a kind passer by to help me point me in the right direction.
It may sound like I'm inept, but just imagine its 4am in the morning, its dark and your intoxicated on a various concoction of things, your just leaving centeroo and walking out into a sea of tents that all look the same (especially at night). You'll really appreciate turn but turn directions at that point, and if you get lost you'll definitly appriciate having your campsite penpointed and marked on your map.

LOL, awesome! I thought Moncton, New Brunswick was just a made up city on the Trailer Park Boys! Great to have you at the roo!

my 2 cents...
That is a great idea. I might have to try this. I remember coming back from Phil last year and walking around my campsite 3 times before realizing which one was mine. All the tents do look the same at night. Also, try remembering your campsite in relation to the Pod balloons. I found that helped the best when trying to locate your campsite., especially at night.

My poor boyfriend (as a Roo rookie) walked around in circles for 3 hours last year. I don't think it helped that there were 2 balloons that were the same color...poor thing, he had blisters for weeks
Rookie mistake: Just because Bonnaroo has ganja food does not mean you need to eat it. And if you do, don't eat it in the middle of the afternoon.
I partied hard Friday night at my 2nd Bonnaroo ('03) and decided to eat some ganja food the next day to feel a little better. I don't remember half of the shows after I ate it and was passed out by 8pm. I missed the STS9 late night and even though there's no way I would see them now, I still regret that decision.

Wow crazy. That was my first concert too. Polaris Ampitheatre in Columbus, OH. I was 12 years old. I remember smelling pot for the first time and asking my parents what the smell was..lol

What you should do is try to arrive at the walmart right down the road from Bonnaroo Wednesday so that you can stock up on anything you forgot/need to buy and also so you, and everyone you are going with, can get a good nights rest before you set everything up on Thursday. You can ask anyone else on here that has stopped at that walmart, you will have so much fun in the parking lot hanging out with other Roo'ers and you will also feel 1000X better than if you just drove straight to the farm.
