Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I agree with ^^^^ It would suck to get separated but I don't think there should be tremendous fear that then overwhelms you. The Roo is a fairly safe place. Enjoy the music and have a meeting place to talk about what a good show the other missed ;D
i know this is off topic, but i'm a rookie and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!! i am coming with three of my girlfriends who have never come before either and i feel like the only nerd who is excited! i have been reading these boards all the time and feel like we are going to be really prepared because of it. they don't seemed as pumped as i am, but i knew you guys would understand! so thank you for all your advice (and thanks mom for always making me know that a trip is always better when you're more "in the know" and can't wait to see you all there!

have fun at the ROO ROOkies!
wish i could be there to help add to your good times i think every veteran ROOer (and especially infoROOers) should seek out a ROOkie and do SOMETHING to help them (free smoke, beer, water, take a picture)
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
This might make us look a little dorky, but my friends and I are bringing walkie talkies for when we need to find each other.
you won't look dorky - but expect that they won't work all that well - because there will be lots of people with them and some people will mess with your mind on them - LOL

You are certainly not the only nerd who's excited, because I'm excited too!
Your friends are also excited...they just don't know it yet.

I have a ? about shows..... If you have a schedule conflict where there are two shows you really wanted to see, do you pick one and see the whole thing or do you try to catch a little of each show? i hate to feel like im missing anything but i feel like i would miss more trying to catch a bit of two shows rather than just staying for the duration of one.

The best way to handle that is "by ear". Go to the show you want to see the most first. If you're really feeling it, you won't wanna leave, so you'll stay for the whole thing. If you're not fully into it, you'll feel free to go check out the other one. It's hard to really plan what you'll be feeling, so you have to go with the flow and hope for the best!

What I like to do when I have a conflict, is stay at camp and drink beer, that way I can avoid making decisions. I have a feeling that once this year's schedule comes out, I'm just gonna have to plan on staying at camp all weekend.
I couldn't agree more. Sometimes you just need to let out a good "BONNAAROOOO" from time to time. Just not during a show
Heck, do it during a show too, if it's appropriate. I remember there were some serious Bonnaroooos at The Streets set in '06.
Right on! I remember one of my best moments of last year was yelling BONNAROO!!!!! while waiting for MSTRKRFT to fire up the tables and having the whole crowd go nuts right after I did it. Many BONNAROO!!!s followed, and then we all rocked that fucking tent out.
first year i went i got way, way drunk in the AM gearing up to go to Dungen, don't really remember much of the show ('cept rocking the fuck out), got lost, couldn't find my friends and woke up at bill frissell on the back of the lawn with all of them.
which was awesome, but yeah, the lesson here is to temper your drinking throughout the day.
also, don't be tied to your friends. sure it's fun seeing shows with them, but you'll get separated and it's not worth missing music just to find them - you'll all see each other again eventually.

That seriously was the funniest thing I've read all week. It reminds me of that episode of Futurama with the Harlem Globetrotters when they are skipping indiscriminately forward in time.

My Rookie Mistake: Bonnaroo 07 got a little chilly some of the nights. I made the terrible mistake of filling up on corn and falling asleep IN my sleeping bag with long sleeves on and the tent zipped up. If I would have slept a couple more hours my sleeping bag would have been ruined and I may have drown in my own sweat haha.
I think the most common things that I see people regretting are trying to do too much so you end up exhausted and miss stuff, or sticking with their group and missing good shows because they didn't want to go alone. Personally, I regret being too shy to talk to many people...the few people I did have conversations with were awesome, so I don't know why I didn't start up more conversations.
I think this year's lineup is AWESOME! ***I'm very proud to see EMINEM get top billing*** Traveling solo and looking forward to soaking up the sun, music, fresh air and happy people! ***Can't wait to meet you!***

yeh man i totally hear you about missing good shows cuz you dont wanna leave your group....I did that last year! all my friends wanted to see kayne and get really close up so they just decided to stay after pearl jam. Well I was drinking and had to go use the restroom and couldnt get back to my group and by the time I decided to go see the show I wanted to see, Phil Lesh and friends I wound up totally missing the show! I was so pissed that I said screw it and went to bed in my tent!
My biggest tip is to sleep Thurs. night. It's a "rookie" mistake that I make every festival, and I'm determined not to screw it up this time. I get so freaking excited that I can't sleep Weds. night, I'm so ecstatic to be there that I don't sleep Thurs. night and then I miss everything after 9 p.m. Fri until the sun bakes me out of my tent Sat.
I will sleep Thurs. night this year!....and you should too
Yeh I totally hear you on that. The first year I went was 06 and I was so excited about being at roo and seeing petty friday night that I couldnt sleep all thursday night and wound up passing out right after the petty show! Totally missing umphrey's/ bisco cuz of it!
My first 'roo in '07, I went to some sets with my brother and friend but a lot of the hsows I went to were solo as we all wanted to see diff. shows, which was cool. I regret not having a camera though, as it was stolen a little bit before 'roo. Last year I went solo and made an effort to get to know my neighbors, which I did, and people around me at shows, but looking back, I could have been more social!
Last year I still did not have a good camera, so I ended up bring a few disposables. Used one up Thurs/Fri and reloaded it (reloadable walgreens camera). Then I couldn't find my other film in my car when that roll was shot, so that's all she wrote. I will be buying a digital point & click within the next few months.
Regrets of getting tired and laying down after the first few songs of Superham '07, woke up when everyone was leaving..too wasted and hitting the porto before Xavier Rudd, which my brother and I were to head to after seeing Gogol. Finishin in the john, I walked off to wander. Turned out my bro fell asleep wasted for 3 hours and we missed Xavier all together Sleeping through most of Wilco... :/ I'll make up for that this year!
Oh yes, last year early Friday morning when returning to camp, I was still up on some mad corn and when settling in for the night I thought it would be a good idea to not carry my car key around in case I lost it, that frame of mind had me put it in dirt and grass behind my car hidden from view.. never found it when packing up to leave! It was only my car entry key, had the ignition safe. So I had to replace it upon coming home so I could lock my car up.
And one other too, I didn't set up the tent before heading to 'roo. Turned out I was missing the rain fly, so I improvised and put the tarp over the tent and staked it down with part of the tarp shut in my car doors so there would be a little room to stoop over ala a shelter. Lesson learned, set up a foreign tent (borrowed) and make sure everything is there!

Getting spun at 9 am on Thursday after driving 20 hours straight from Boston. Than continuing the Corn buffet and getting less than 3 hours of sleep over the first 72 hours of the trip. You might not make late night Saturday
