How was everyone's trip? Traffic ok? What about where you camped? Any fun or not so fun things happen? Any particulary memorable shows? I'm excited and want to know how everyone made out!
As for myself... we got lost 3 times on the way there, got stuck in traffic for 8 hours going down new bushy rd., wasnt even in my camp for 2 hours and had a heat stroke (ended up spending all the nights at a hotel), had one hell of a time watching people get lost back in my camp (fat albert, WAY back in the boonies), totally loved dave's set. I NEED IT.
oh yeah, howdy to everyone who i met at the playground thursday night you all rock hardcore!
I hope everyone had a great time and hopefully didn't have any crazy heat related issues like I did!!
We had a great time.....got in in about 1 1/2 hrs...after a small/short trip to Wal-mart. Man, what a sight that was. I've never seen a wallyworld shook down like that. Crazy i say!!!! We camped in "Camp Dr. Claw" near the corner of 2nd & 4th. (on high ground thank god) didn't really get to see too many shows. SCi was ok, Yonder was smokin, as well as DelMcoury, Sam Bush (even though he lost power due to some fuck that forgot to fuel up the generator), Doc Watson, Steve Winwood, The Dead, and could hear primus clear as day from my tent. (We could pretty much hear whatever was on the main stage right from our tent...so that was cool) That sounded like a crazy show. Cant wait to get it. We pulled out early Sun. morning so didn't catch any Sun. shows. only took us a few min. to get out though so it was well worth it. All and all I had a great time. Wish I could say the same for my g/f. She's pregnant, and was fighting off all-day puking, and trying to stay cool. She went all that way and was only able to catch two shows....Yonder and SCi.....
The trip was awesome. spent tuesday at my folks house, then fueled up for the weekend. got in midnight thursday morning I would call it. right when we get turned into the site Mr. Pig and friends search my car. finding some sparklers and my new bowl. So the piggy oinked " this is a nice piece how much did it cost ya?" I told him and the he snickered and put it in his pocket. kind of a damper going in. But damn it was worth it. cause he did let me go, so I got to enjoy myself. only bad thing is I had $20 to my name for the eintire weekend so my friends hooked me up beyond belief. woke up early thursday morning at 9 by 10 all 6 of us had dosed and decided to beat the heat by staying under our gazebo spraying each other in the face with water guns. Laughed so hard my abs hurt the next day. The music was great. started out at Los Lonely Boys. and the last show I saw was David Byrne. the high points for me was dave and trey singing bath tub gin and seeing Ween up close and tearing it up, also heard some primus while walking back to the camp that night. It was all sureal the entire time, friendly people every where I went. The one thing I could wish for is that everyone out side of bonnaroo, all over the land could just be as kind and helping as we are towards each other while we're there.

"The one thing I could wish for is that everyone out side of bonnaroo, all over the land could just be as kind and helping as we are towards each other while we're there."
Amen to that. I mention the same thing when I got back home...how helpful and considerate "MOST IF NOT ALL" of the concert goers were. Where are you going to stick 120K people in one area with extreme conditions and have it produce very little animosity amongst the lot of us. Where would you find the love that we all brought. Seasoned hippies, greenie teenagers, father's looking for a hiatus, mommies with their kiddies, professionals in the work force, professional concert-goers, day-trippers, users, abusers, abstainers, experimenters, or any other type of label we can stick on us all were HOT and then we all were WET and we all were SIDE BY SIDE. Blessed!
A Bonnaroo society is the anti-microism of the larger society in our Country, yet we had little material value but everyone shared the same love towards music, living, dancing, camping, or whatever. People looked out not only for people, but for all of God's living entities. (I just said titties, well sort of). It was all just beautifully contagious to the point where I am going to attempt to spread some of that humanity thru these half stacked cubicle walls I work out of.

well, we took the first exit northbound which was a mistake. waited for like 8-9 hours but finally got in at about 10:30ish thursday night...thru some guidance and work by my tall friend don, we got a good campsite..
great music started off by the entertaining P-Lander Z, the group with the Japanamation look to them and ended with a heck of a show by Trey and an awesome light show. I was in another reality the whole weekend. I must say I thought the extremes this year were more extreme than last year. The heat was hotter and the rain was harder and mud seemed a little bit deeper. Truthfully, it did put a bit of a damper on it a little bit at first but usually a couple of beers or something I put in my system made me feel just fine. Praxis had the rapping Hitler head which was cool and Umphrey McGee put on a show that i heard from the playground.
I missed a couple shows but that is expected. I had a great time and talked to some cool people. As a heads up, the toilet seat mats I brought helped greatly with the bathroom situation as did the jugs of water with the shower situation.
Overall, I had a great time. I must say surviving to get through the elements really was difficult but I am glad that I was able to do it. I think the sand was a great idea and helped alot. Hopefully, they'll put more there in the future. Sorry couldn['t meet everyone but at 11am on friday, i was asleep in the heat. Have a great year everyone!
We ended up taking 55 in and got in line about 3:30 am on Friday morning. Camp was pitched by about 8:30 am. We had to be in the worst possible camp. On the map it was called "Day Parking #2" (no cute cartoon name) but for some reason it was being used for regular camping. Because the space was originally intended for Day Parking, there were no portapotties, water, or vending in our area. We had to go across Bushy Branch for that stuff and it was a pain. Had to be about a mile from Centeroo.
Stayed in Centeroo from noon til 4:00 am on about two hours sleep on Friday. Highlights: Wilco and Yo La Tango, and Umphreys. (Some nice Dave and friends covers also) Mostly rested up Saturday. Rachael Yamagata was great and Ween and RRFB late night.
A Rice Krispie Treat and a little chocalate led me to alter my plan to run around a lot on Sunday and I happliy spread out a blanket at the main stage and sat there all day. moe. and David Byrne rocked my world. The weekend highlights for me along with Wilco and Yo La Tango. Sat through the deluge waiting for Trey and gave up and headed for camp about a half-hour before he started up (I was just too cold, wet and tired). Had one more bottle back at camp with Guyute coming from the main stage.
I had a blast. The music gets better every year. David Byrne is by a significant margin the coolest man alive. The weather and my camping spot made things a lot harder this year. I hope they don't try to make it too much bigger (I think 70,000-80,000 were pretty good numbers) I can't wait to go back next year.
I'm really sorry I missed you guys but I was never at Centeroo at 11:00 am, And was pretty incoherant a lot of the time.

Our wait in line wasn't bad -- about 4.5 hours. Got in line around 6:30 am Thurs and got to our campsite around 11 am. Bad news: we had a terrible campsite location -- Camp Donald Duck, way out in BFE with a 30 min walk to Centeroo. We were far from the first to get in line (my bracelet number was in the low 20Ks), yet we still got a bad site. Oh well, whattaya gonna do? Although the long walk made coming home mid-day very unappealing (I usually packed a bag with the intention of staying in Centeroo until the shows I wanted to see were done for the night), we did have a ton more space than most of the closer sites, and it was indeed quieter with cleaner portolets and a washstand that always had a few spigots free. And the 2' tall weeds that made up our site were welcome after the rains began and they became some good protection against a lot of mud. Plus, we were easily able to get to Bushy Branch and make our way out around 9:30 Mon morning. Still, a closer site would have made the weather challenges a bit easier to bear.
The music was really good -- as expected, I missed a bunch of shows in order to really enjoy those I did see. Favorite shows: The Dead, Steve Winwood, Primus, Robt Randolph, and David Byrne. After the rains on Sunday, I cried uncle and stayed at the campsite once I made it back post-Byrne, thereby missing Trey. We could hear it a bit from our site, and it sounded really good. But I'll catch Phish in a week or so at Deer Creek, so it was a choice I don't regret.
Wished I could have met up with all of you -- missed the Thurs evening and Fri morning meet-ups for various reasons. Maybe I'll get a chance to meet some of you at Phish or other Deer Creek shows this summer.
Thursday morning 7-8 am: The people we were with (an RV), decided to drive nearly to the entrance and try and squeeze in line, IN AN RV!! But they did. I don't condone this type of behavior, but it got us to our campsite in 15 friggin minutes! Camp Tweey none-the-less. It was a great camp we could pretty much hear all the music from our site (unless there were multiple tents going at once, then it was just this crazy mix of wave after wave of a mishmash of music).
So yea highlights for me were Wilco, Damien Rice, Yo La Tengo, String Cheese, MMW w/ Robert Randolph and being up close for Vida Blue. Dave and friends was really cool for the 3 songs I saw. Tim Reynolds is god! I chose to wander from tent to tent, so I really didn't get any whole sets from anybody. I did see alot of amazing music though, some of which is still ringing in my ears. There were some definate downers but the music was always there to help me along my way.
We rolled in Thursday morning at about 1:30. Good timing apparently because there were no major lines in. They parked us in camp Gleek. I didn't mind the walk to and from Centeroo. We had a neat little shakedown that I found very entertaining and lots of people selling cold beer on the way so I was never thirsty.
Thursday night we checked out PeelanderZ (sp) and I have to say, I don't get it. Although, I did leave right after the first song so maybe it got better. (I doubt it) Just not my type of stuff. Friday we started the day with bloody mary's and then it was off to Los Lonely Boys. I have to admit that we over did it Friday trying to take everything in and by the time the late night bands started, I just couldn't do it and went to bed.
Sat. we had this great plan to relax at main stage all day until the Dead, then hit Ween and Primus. However, due to the rain and mud called it quits. Something I regret.
Sunday, Moe and David Byrne were incredible. I had my doubts about David Byrne just because everything I heard seemed so mellow but I am sooooooo glad I gave him a chance. Then, the rain hit again and I skipped Trey because the thought of trudging through that mud again totally got me down.
I will definately go back. It was the experience of a lifetime. People were so cool and diverse. It was awesome. If only the rest of the world could experience what we did.
