So, I was on Reddit yesterday and stumbled upon a thread under r/bonnaroo where people were selling their wristbands. My question is, how legit is this? And does it matter if someone else bought it and you use it to get in? Also, in the thread they mention stubhub has tons of wristbands for sell, so is this normal? My bonnaroo friends think it's a bad idea to buy from anyone else besides the official website, but what do you think?
Buy from Bonnaroo.com, don't support the secondary market if you don't have to. I only advise the use of options like that when an event is sold out and you don't really have any other way of getting a ticket.

Unless you're buying from a friend then I'd recommend getting it from the site. If the people on stub hub aren't offering a steep discount, it's not worth the risk. And if they are selling the ticket for well under market value than it's even less likely to be legit.
(I've had friends who had to sell because of job situations, life changes, etc. I'm sure most of the people on their are legit and I'm sure a lot of them have legit reasons for selling. Don't want to imply that they're all trying to rip you off. But I wouldn't want to give my money to that 1%.)

This will be my first roo and all my friends who are on their 4th year in a row tell me it's better to go to Bonnaroo broke, than to not go at all. So back to my question, if money is an issue and I could save some money by buying from a secondary market, will my wristband be legit/work?

The only thing you will have to ask is if they registered the wristband. If they did and it is under the sellers name then you shouldn't buy, because if something were to happen and your wristband came off, you wouldn't be able to get a replacement because you aren't the one who registered. Otherwise you will be fine. Just make sure that the wristband is unregistered.... and well, it is the actual wristband for this year.
So I'm not very smart. Am I supposed to register all five of my family's wristbands under my name since I'm the purchaser, or should I register each band to a family member's name? I was thinking the latter, but there's a box that says to certify over 18 and obviously they're not all over 18. I sent an email to them, but their answers aren't always crystal clear. Thanks.

From what I have read, the 18 and over is just confirmation since registering your wristbands before a certain date enters you in a contest to win a car/VIP upgrades. It'll still get registered even if the person is not 18. On the other hand, I don't think it will really matter if you register them all under your name or 4 under your name and 1 under the wife's since your boys will probably be around you the entire weekend.

If its cheaper on stubhub by it from there. They are 100% legit and have a guarantee. I've used then hundreds of times even events like the final four and never had a problem. They will usually even have a rep near by should something arise who will get you another ticket at no cost to yourself. Just make sure to give yourself enough time to get it shipped to you.

Last year I bought from a face-to-face meet off Craigslist. The guy sat at a coffee shop with me while I registered it to make sure it would work out. My ex got hers off of StubHub and she had no problems either, but like someone else mentioned they do back them 100%.
