This album is definitely better than Audio Video Disco.
I think this album is objectively good, even though there are a couple clunkers. The best 4-5 tracks on here easily hold up with the best tracks on MBDTF. Even the lousy songs are very well crafted lousy songs. P4k could easily come out and say that this is Daft Punk's answer to OK Computer, slap a 10.0 on it and call it a day. In my mind it's about on par with Bon Iver's S/T (9.5) plus .2 or so for the fact that it's basically giving a huge middle finger to the whole EDM scene.
I'm going to say 6.9...respectable enough. People forget this is the same publication that gave Discovery a 6.4 and Human After All a 4.9.
Can't remember where I read it but Ryan Schreiber said somewhere recently that Discovery is his only album score ever he can't defend at this point. Maybe they'll "overcompensate" for the 6.4?
Honestly, I don't think 6.4 is an unfair rating for Discovery. I mean, I'd rate it a tad higher, but I also do think there's a been a ton of revisionist history on how good Daft Punk's post Homework output has been in the wake of their pyramid tour.
