When it comes to home field advantage for the playoffs, you can also make some assumptions:
IF (big if) the Saints beat the Seahawks, the Saints have an obvious slight advantage. You can assume the Saints would lose one of the two games against Carolina. You can also assume that the Seahawks would be the underdog against San Fran in San Fran, so we assume Seattle loses.
Both teams finish 13-3. Saints get the 1 seed based on head-to-head.
If Seahawks win next Monday, then you can just give the 1 seed straight to Seattle. They would have a two game advantage and a head-to-head advantage with only 4 games to play. The Saints would have to gain 2.5 games on them in only 4 weeks (impossible). The Panthers would have to gain 3.5 games on Seattle (completely impossible).
Unless the SEA loses to both SF and NO and CAR sweeps NO. SEA would still have home field through the playoffs but we would win the division and have a bye. Not likely though haha
In that case, Seattle and Carolina would both be 13-3 and both would get the first round bye. Seattle would be the 1 seed and Carolina would be the 2 seed. New Orleans would be the 5 seed.
If teams take care of business in the games they SHOULD win, it all comes down to Week 13 Saints @ Seahawks, Week 14 Panthers @ Saints, and Week 16 Saints @ Panthers for the 1, 2, and 5 seeds.
yea but with all those weapons you have. how could they ever outgain and outscore your mighty Giants?
Because the Panthers are having their best year in a decade, significantly outperforming all expectations. And conversely the Giants are having their worst year in a decade, significantly underperforming relative to expectations. Even then, the Panthers only have 1 more yard per game going into this week (not sure what the exact stats are after this afternoon).
Your yards per game point is moot bc our QB#2 has come in the game 4 different games this year bc we were winning by so much. Also we have been up big in a lot games and have turned straight to the run just to run out time with backups in the game. Stats dont tell the whole story by a long shot. Right now at this moment the Giants have less weapons on offense and have nowhere near the defense the Panthers have. Bottomline is that the Giants are awful and the Panthers are a very good team. Panthers have a better offense and I dont care what the yardage stats are.

Yes, you are right. The Giants suck. The Panthers are good. I can handle it. I've been rooting for the Giants for 50 years so I have seen them suck for more years than the Panthers have been playing. I just hope they can find their way back to respectability relatively soon.
Well, the Pats just pulled that win out of their asses huh. One hell of a comeback slash fluky game there. At least the Pats got all their costly mistakes out of the way early.
So this weekend, I learned that Jimmy is the Sang of the NFL thread and quacker is the steph.
no, there is a difference. we're good and I know we're good and I talk about it a lot. Jimmy thinks they're good even when they are horrible.
I was speaking more to the fact that your fandoms make me want to hate both of your teams when I have no real reason to, and Steph/Quacker make me feel bad for hating those teams.

nothing wrong with the fandom, we love our teams. my team has been really good for the last 3 years so I don't see why I wouldn't be talking about it. in his case they are awful this year but he still talks like they are the same team that won Super Bowls. I believe his fandom is more irrational, but not as irrational as Flanz. you can't tell those guys nothing!
FTR, the Giants weren't spoken about in this thread for 4 weeks prior to yesterday, despite them winning 4 games in a row (I didn't want to jinx it). Its like you guys were just waiting for a Giants loss to pipe up. And then all the negative posts come in. It almost seems like some of you are more into the NFL for hating the Giants than watching your own teams. Go back to your inferior college football thread.
it's more fun to not have a team and pick on all of you guys when your teams suck.
