I'm surprised no one is talking about the reversal call on the final play of the game last night. That was defensive holding. It doesn't matter that the ball was not catchable. Gronk was being hugged and pushed out of the endzone. Ridiculous.
BTW, I hate Steve Smith more than any other player in the NFL. He probably sleeps with his mouth still running. I hope Vaccaro smashes him in the face.
For what it's worth, as a Seahawks fan the team I'm most worried about in the NFC right now is the Panthers. If Newton is on his game, with that defense playing the way it is they're a really tough matchup.
It'd be like looking in the mirror for the Seahawks, almost. Very similar styles and make-ups there.
The Pats are still a good team, above average and playoff contenders. They just aren't as good as they used to be. It doesn't help there's all the defensive injuries, and the offense isn't quite clicking (still.)
Personally, I think Denver is better - and will likely be the AFC champs. The Pats are at best 3rd in the AFC, no lower than 5th - around Indy/KC level, below Denver and Cincy.
Wait - you think the Cincinatti Bengals are better than Indy, Kansas City and New England? Seriously?
Well, were. Cincy did beat New England a month or so ago.
Maybe Cinci after that? The team is injured beyond belief and inconsistent as hell.
I'd go Denver - KC - Indy - Cinci - NE
Do you think Indy would beat KC? I just can't see it.
Depends who is home.
Personally, my rankings would be
Den - Indy - KC - NE also, but this list changes week-to-week. If another team comes out and shows the same flaws in KC that the Broncos did, they can keep falling (I'm not sold on them). I think they end up like 12-4, 13-3 at best and get smacked in R1 on the road in NE in the playoffs.
I think the final seeding will be Denver - Indy - NE - Cincy - KC - whoever wins the poops lottery (Jets/Phins/Ravens/Titans/Chargers/Raiders/Browns/Buffalo)

I would have Indy second, mostly based on who they have beaten, although I think they could end up being the team to come out of the AFC. I would like to see them put together a complete game, something they haven't done since they lost Reggie Wayne.
No it won't, because I'm sick of people acting like Manning/Brady is the nexus of the football universe. The hype for this matchup is unbelievable.
Two of the top 5-10 (depending on who you ask) quarterbacks of all time are playing in the same era and get to face off against each other a lot. It's pretty cool. I used to complain about things being overhyped, then I stopped watching ESPN when games weren't on

I look forward to the Broncs at Pats game because they are two good teams right now. Brady vs. Manning is part of it, sure. They are two of the tops of this generation and have a history against each other, though dominated by Tom Terrific, including big playoff game.
An interesting story line for the Seahawks-Saints game will be Wilson facing the team of the QB he says has been the main one he studies and emulates.
And regardless of all this shiz, the original point you made is that the Giants' ceiling is going 8-8 and maybe a wild card. That's absurd considering we haven't had a losing season since 2004. We won 9 games last year with one of the toughest schedules in the league. And we are better, if not the same. The only significant player we lost is Ahmad Bradshaw - and David Wilson is better anyway.
hey meow! david wilson has shown none of the toughness of ahmad bradshaw

Another clutch drive by Cam to boot.
Sigh, I was hoping Case could be the QB Houston was looking for. He has yet to win a game and did not play well today. It wasn't all his fault however. Not much protection for him today, plus a critical drop by Hopkins on the last drive and another bobbled pass that ended up a pick to end the game.
All defenses being equal, if you would prefer Cam Newton, Steve Smith, Greg Olsen, Brandon Lafell, Ted Ginn, DeAngelo Williams over Eli Manning, Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, Ruben Randle, Brandon Myers, David Wilson...welp...then you're outta you're quacking mind.
The good thing for the Saints in this situation with the Panthers is that we hold the advantage on conference record.
Let's assume that the Saints lose to the Seahawks next week. Let's also assume that the Saints and Panthers split their head to head matchups in Week 14 and 16. Let's also assume that both teams win the other two games (Rams away and Bucs at home for the Saints; Jets at home and Falcons away for Panthers). Both teams finish 12-4.
1. Head-to-head: Tied at one game apiece. 2. Division Record: Tied at 5-1. 3. Record against same opponents: Tied at 10-4. 4. Conference record: Saints 10-2 and Panthers 9-3.
Bottom line: It's coming down to the two head-to-head matches. But, if it's split, the advantage is for the Saints.
When it comes to home field advantage for the playoffs, you can also make some assumptions:
IF (big if) the Saints beat the Seahawks, the Saints have an obvious slight advantage. You can assume the Saints would lose one of the two games against Carolina. You can also assume that the Seahawks would be the underdog against San Fran in San Fran, so we assume Seattle loses.
Both teams finish 13-3. Saints get the 1 seed based on head-to-head.
If Seahawks win next Monday, then you can just give the 1 seed straight to Seattle. They would have a two game advantage and a head-to-head advantage with only 4 games to play. The Saints would have to gain 2.5 games on them in only 4 weeks (impossible). The Panthers would have to gain 3.5 games on Seattle (completely impossible).

Unless the SEA loses to both SF and NO and CAR sweeps NO. SEA would still have home field through the playoffs but we would win the division and have a bye. Not likely though haha
