So, the Bears signed Santonio Holmes today to a one year deal. They are making a run at the Super Bowl this year. It seems that having two kids has forced Jay to grow up, and although it's only preseason, he seems to have the most composure he's ever had in a Bears uni. Still have to worry about the Packers and our suspect defense, but i don't see them missing the playoffs.

Hey, if you guys can give Green Bay a loss or two, and handle up on Carolina, TB, and Atlanta, I'll be a happy man.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
Shit. My bad. I thought this was where I went now to bitch about Eli. speculate about Nassib's potential.
Figured I'd move it away from the roundballers. Nassib has improved 500% over what I saw last year. And the fact that he's 1000% faster than Eli leaves me hope. Eli looks like he's all of a sudden been asked to play tetherball instead of football.
When a guy who was never an accurate short passer can't heave it consistently anymore it get's pretty bad. And a receiving corps of Cruz, Randle, Beckham, Washington, Talley and Parker sounds pretty good. Lots of speed and YAC with favorable rule changes. It seems like Eli is the only one who can't handle McAdoo's offense.
An argument can be made that its just our offensive line. Two years ago Eli had the lowest sack % in the NFL and had a 26:15 TD:INT ratio. Last year Eli had the highest sack % in the NFL and had a 18:27 TD:INT ratio.
It doesn't help that our LT is coming off a broken leg, our LG just broke his toe and is out for a month, our C hasn't played a regular season game in 1.5 years, and our RG is replacement level John Jerry who was implicated in the Richie Incognito scandal. Justin Pugh is the only reliable and known commodity we have on the offensive line right now. That's scary.
Also, I think our TE is Larry Donnell*. Who the fuck is Larry Donnell?
*A 6'6" 270 lb UDFA outta Grambling State who ran a 4.91 40-time. In 2013, Donnell accumulated 3 receptions after spending his first season on the practice squad. At Gramblinb State, he caught a whopping 38 balls over 4 seasons.
Which one is a safer bet: Sam Bradford never landing another starting job in the NFL or, St. Louis being completely fucked this year?
Bradford will get another shot. This is terrible for Sam and a St. Louis team that has become competitive again. I'm happy though that this may open up a roster spot for Garret Gilbert. Although his play at the University of Texas was a letdown, that guy was great to watch in high school at Lake Travis where he lead them to back-to-back 5A state championships. He has looked capable this preseason with the Rams when I've had a chance to watch.

The sad part is he really is an upgrade. He'll be starting by week 6 or 7.
In the BMOTM debate about Hopkins v. Watkins, I almost cited Hopkins as having an advantage because Watkins has Manuel at QB then I remembered Hopkins plays for the Texans. That argument was duly shelved.
Even if my Packers win tonight's rematch, I reserve the right to a lifetime of residual anger over the Fail Mary.
Never been so mad at my television in my life, and I'm including such awfulness/idiocy as that "4th & 26" play vs. the Eagles and invading Iraq.
Get over it. If the Packers hadn't gotten their dicks beat in by the Giants or Vikings that game wouldn't have mattered. Maybe next time don't let one of the worst quarterbacks in the league throw 3 TDs in a crucial contest when partial home-field advantage is on the line.

Yeah, it must just be me? Sure... This rematch is this year's NFL Kickoff game for a reason. Bullshit is bullshit, regardless of how the rest that season played out.

It's not just you, it's many, many of the perpetually entitled, Velveeta-blooded "owners" of the Green Bay Packers.
And yes, I'm sure that the NFL was aware of the many "Fail Mary" references and callbacks which would attach themselves to this year's opening game, and I'm sure they're aware that this would create a false sense of importance and manufactured drama which might attract more viewers. I doubt it was the sole reason they decided to match the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks and their historically awesome defense against one of the best offensive teams in the league, but I'm sure they recognized the benefit of the conspiracy-minded Fail Mary Truthers tuning in just to complain about an arguable call from two years ago.
