One of the chief arguments that Ray Rice will make in the appeal of his indefinite suspension is that the NFL extended his punishment on the basis of an edited videotape, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Legal sources told Schefter that the TMZ tape of Rice hitting his then-fiancee was a cleaned-up, whittled down and condensed version of the events that took place in the Atlantic City casino elevator.
Rice's side is expected to argue that the NFL suspended the former Baltimore Ravens running back indefinitely off an edited videotape that was not the extended version.
Oh, did they cut out all the magic that totally legitimizes giving your fiancee a straight left then dragging her out of the elevator like a bag of potatoes? No? That kind of magic doesn't exist? Well then shut the fuck up and take your punishment.

A-MEN. This guy/these guys just don't get it, do they? Ugh.

Completely agree. Rice should have been handed down a harsher punishment than he originally received. I also feel though that it's important that players' Union fights a second suspension for the same offense. You can't have someone in charge who just thinks he can go back and lengthen or shorten a suspension because he fucked up originally. This is why Goodell needs to be let go, and the NFL needs to reinstate Rice and swallow the embarrassment of completely fucking up this whole situation.
I originally came here though, to express how much of a steal the NFL Redzone Channel is for $6/mo.
Those darn homos, creating unnecessary distractions & lowering the morality of the league...
So I've got a moderator chastising me in my Messages... I'm guessing because someone interpreted this intended-to-be-taken-as-sarcastic post literally and made a complaint?
I've responded to said moderator, and requested that my response be passed along to the anonymous tattletale. Whomever you are, you're welcome to share your thoughts with me. Just send me a message and we can talk. Like I think you should've done in the first place.

If it weren't for your other posts espousing death to anyone involved in LGBT activities this might have worked.

The last time I boycotted the NFL was after the 2009 NFC Championship game. The Saints clearly cheated and nothing significant was done about it. They should have had their championship taken away. They don't deserve that championship and are a bunch of scumbags. Actually, they shouldn't have been allowed to even play in the Super Bowl. There were horrible unforgivable calls by the refs (like the instant replay that clearly showed AP had gotten a first down but the refs spotted it two yards back anyways) and they clearly were trying to knock off Farve's head with all the illegal late hits that were never called. The NFL should have struck down the hammer that very week as the mistakes were clear as day and allowed the Vikings to play in the big game instead. NASCAR got it right last year by allowing Jeff Gordon to compete for the their championship when they discovered cheating so why can't the NFL get it right. All the NFL did was suspended the coaches for a year. Those very coaches are still working in the NFL today. Everyone involved should have gotten a lifetime ban. I am still mad at the Saints for their cowardly, cheating act and, while it's a long shot now that AP is out (and they have the worst starting QB in the league), I hope the Vikings destroy them this weekend. I have never watched the 2009 Super Bowl and I never will.

It wasn't me. I did cringe a little when I read it the first time, but I did not complain (and I did understand that you were being sarcastic)
Random high school memory: one day while at my locker, I got randomly smacked upside the head without provocation by the team's quarterback who said "Fucking f-----" as he did so. Subsequently wound up with a nosebleed most of that afternoon.
Guess I was trying to walk a fine line trying to sanitize a comment made by someone with that mindset, and didn't quite pull it off?
Semi-related: guy got expelled second semester of our senior year, when he was no longer of use for athletic purposes.
I'm one of those people who get uncomfortable about a lot of things, though: people singing in public when you know they are really giving it their all but come off as trying too hard, people having genuinely honest and thought-provoking conversations about race/religion/politics but are doing it in a public setting where strangers can hear, etc.. I also get uncomfortable when white people make any kind of comments about the differences between whites and blacks even when they think they are doing it in a respectful way unless it is in a private area.
Two examples: Our neighbors across the street are a mixed race couple. The wife is the daughter of a North Carolina plastic surgeon who owns a yacht. The husband is black and from Trinidad. He aligns himself with island culture and most of his friends are internationals from places like Honduras, Cuba, Brazil, Ukraine, and France (he plays a lot of pick up soccer games). Neither person has any real experience with growing up as an African American in the United States. Sometimes, the wife makes mostly harmless comments about the local black people that she works with. They are by no means directly hateful things. They are mostly pointing out subtle differences in the way they talk or act at work (such as thinking certain slang words are really funny sounding). Sometimes it also seems that they feel like they have access to say or do things that others do not because they are a mixed couple and they have earned that right. This stuff makes me uncomfortable, but it probably shouldn't.
The other example is the other night we were having a neighborhood get-together and some friends started a large conversation about all the contradictory statements made by organized religions. I completely agreed with everything they were saying. However, one of our neighbors goes to church every Sunday and I could tell was not comfortable with the conversation. It made me uncomfortable again.
I typically get up and walk away for a few minutes to avoid these situations. I know it is my own problem, and I'm overly sensitive.

Just saw this comment in a thread about Charlie Whitehurst starting for the Titans this weekend. "Won't it be really hard for him to throw the ball with the clipboard in his hand?" Gold!
This will be DeSean Jackson's worst year to date. I feel bad for their fans because once RGIII goes down again they're gonna be as bad as ever. Philly will rule the NFC East for a while, Chip is onto something. The Cowboys are gonna continue to be on the downward spiral, similar to the Raiders, until their owner kicks the bucket. Nick Foles will take a step back into reality but the Eagles will be good enough to win the division. The wildcard is the Giants because Eli is a damn good QB. I think they'll finish right behind the Eagles with 9 or 10 wins with a potential WC spot. I see the Cowboys and the Skins fighting for a .500 season.
4 games in and Eli is looking like the old Eli. I still say they get a Wildcard spot. Still have 3/4 to go but I like my prediction.
I've always thought that the biggest reason for the Giants lackluster offense was the guy to Eli's left in that pic. But I am surprised that he seems capable of supporting McAdoo's scheme. It's only two games but for the first time in awhile there is light at the end of the tunnel and it doesn't look like an oncoming train.

Strength of schedule doesn't hurt. I just think it's funny how fast people flip flop week to week when it comes to the NFL. that's why watching these fools on tv are so laughable. After 2 games people were saying Coughlan is gone and this is it for Eli. Now they're changing their tunes. Same with my beloved Bears. Preseason they were going to compete with the cheese heads for the NFC North. After week 1 it's Detroit and GB. Now it's Chicago and Detroit. If the Bears lose Sunday it'll be back to GB Detroit.
So far my boy Cutty has been pretty solid. He's put up better numbers than Rodgers and a few other big names. I argued his value months ago and people wanted McCown. Fair weather fans as I like to call them. So far he's played against 3 pretty good defenses and won 2 big games on the road. I know it's only 3 weeks but he's off to a good start.
This week will be Cutty's biggest game to date. Hopefully Marshall will be healthy enough to contribute. My prediction is this will be Trestmans day to shut all the nay Sayers up. Trestman will show his genius and put up a huge number against the Packers. Forte is going to explode with his first big game of the season with over 200 all purpose yards. Cutty will put up 350+ yards, 5 TDs and 1 pick. Toss in a defensive TD and I have them winning 52-35.
Recently, whenever the Bears take on the Packers it's pointless trying to get myself excited, though I always do, because it always ends with Rodgers beating us again. Today's game has me all kinds of nervous. This is the game where the Bears have to prove what kind of team they are. Our defense has played average defense over the past 3 weeks which is an improvement over last year. Our offense has proven that when they begin to click they are very dangerous, and they have offensive weapons that defenders have to worry about in every direction. And Cutler is finally showing signs that he's starting to understand that the most important thing about being a good QB is protecting the ball and not forcing plays that you can't make. The offense has trouble though, putting it all together at times. If Rodgers comes out and shreds our defense, which is very likely, will Jay have the urgency and level-head needed to shoot it out with him? Will the defense surprise us and show that they can be depended on to stifle great QB's like Rodgers? Green Bay is probably the most vulnerable they've been since Jay took over as QB, other than the one time we beat them when Rodgers was hurt. They have a bad O-line and a wretched Defense. If the Bears D plays the way they have been this should be an easy win, and at-worst a close shootout victory or loss. But, if the Bears fall short and totally blow this game then it will be a big blow to the expectations of this season. Bears-Packers. I love it and hate it.
